The Memon Association of Leicester Confirms Being Integral Part of the World Memon Organisation.
On Sunday, 6th October 2024, the Memon Association of Leicester (MAL) warmly hosted a 130 strong delegation of the World Memon Organisation Charitable Foundation (WMO) for a luncheon at the newly inaugurated Memon Centre in Leicester.
Many of the WMO’s most prominent figures were in attendance including Trustees, Patrons and Life Members as well as the Chairpersons of the WMO Global Ladies Wing & Global Youth Wing.
The event in Leicester was an important aspect of the WMO’s AGM which is the premier annual event. This year the AGM event was once again being conducted in the UK after 12 years.
The 500+ guests at the luncheon were treated to a traditional Memoni meal featuring a superbly delicious Akni and Mito-kawo adding a touch of cultural warmth splendour to the occasion, as well as several other entrée dishes.
The MAL took the opportunity to highlight the various activities they have undertaken for the benefit of the community. They proudly showcased the newly constructed Memon Centre and shared their plans for the development of a brand new Sports Centre, which is currently under construction.
During the event, Mr. Sikandar Sattar, Chairman of the MAL, reaffirmed the Charity’s unwavering commitment to being an integral part of the World Memon Organisation.
He emphasized their shared objectives of uplifting the Memon community locally and globally and contributing to the common goals of the WMO.
He said “THE MEMON ASSOCIATION OF LEICESTER & WORLD MEMON ORGANISATION ARE ONE..!!”
In response to this show of sincerity and dedication to our shared visions and values, Mr. Salman Iqbal, President of the WMO, expressed his deep appreciation for the efforts and intentions of the MAL.
He announced a generous commitment of £200,000 towards the construction of the Memon Sports Centre in Leicester, further solidifying the strong partnership between the two organizations.
The luncheon provided an excellent opportunity for the international delegates to meet and network with members of the Leicester Memon community. It was undoubtedly a most wonderful occasion to meet friends and colleagues after so long.
As part of proceedings several appreciation awards were presented to members of the Leicester community, recognizing their contributions to MAL and humanity.
The President Mr Salman Iqbal expressed his warm gratitude to Mr. Sikandar Sattar and the MAL for their inspiring and unrivalled hospitality and commitment towards the WMO.
Both organizations look forward to a fruitful and collaborative relationship in their shared mission to uplift Memons wherever they may reside.
