UPCOMING FAYRES

Iā€™ve been pretty manic lately creating lots of hanging Christmas decorations and decor, so most of my time has been away from the socials and work work work!

My dining room table looks like an elfā€™s workshop, I have sparkly cord all over the place and lots of glue gun burns in the process!!

So I thought I better remind everyone where Iā€™ll be this next month, so here you go;

This Sat 9 Nov: Hockley Community centre. 11am-3pm

16-17 Nov: at Leigh Community Centre. 12pm-4pm

8 Dec: in Old Leigh opposite The Crooked Billet. 10am-5pm

Iā€™m super excited to be attending these Fayres. Iā€™ve been busy working away on a few new designs which I keep forgetting to show you all. So I guess you better pop along if you want to find out more!

Hope to see you all soon.

GRINCH ANYONE?

I really wanted to make a fun piece of decor for my Christmas markets and so why not make a classic piece I thought!

A while later and lots of hot glue (and a few burnt fingers in between!) I came up with this! Made from as much natural material as possible using a cork ball and cotton macrame cord, this is it.

As far as my first attempt goes, Iā€™m pretty damn pleased with him! There will be some limited editions of these at my upcoming markets.

Are you a fan of The Grinch?

ITā€™S BEEN A WHILE

Itā€™s certainly been a while since Iā€™ve picked up my cord and Iā€™m happy to say that Iā€™m glad to be back doing what I love.

Iā€™ve been working away on a commission but Iā€™m not quite finished yet. However as always I have my trusted companion Teddy šŸ¶ by my side. He is always there and has been a massive help to me over this last year. He might not be able to talk to me but he is a comfort, alongside the knotting!

So hereā€™s a sketch of the tree of life Iā€™m working on whilst the pup watches over me!

A LEAP OF FAITH

As the tradition goes, leap day is a time when women are properly ā€œallowedā€ to propose marriage.

And this is exactly what I did 16 years ago in 2008!

We were on holiday in the south of France. Itā€™s was a gorgeous sunny day. Iā€™d spent the morning a nervous wreck pacing up and down, deciding just how I was going to get him on his own. I made up some story about a big fish I had seen in the river at the end of garden of the house we were staying at. He came out with me to have a look (of course there was nothing there!). I hid behind the big tree, took off a ring I was wearing and jumped out, got on one knee and proposed. Luckily he said yes and 8 months later we were married. I miss him every day and this day will always have a special memory for me.

It maybe a tradition that isnā€™t used a lot these days but how did it come about in the first place?

Itā€™s an Irish tradition that legend has it that St. Brigid of Kildare complained to St. Patrick that women had to wait too long for the men to ask them for their hand in marriage and so St. Patrick agreed that on the extra day of a leap year, women could propose to men. I guess this was quite for forward-thinking at the time!ļæ½
So tell me your proposal story?!
