I Love the Bluebell season, waves of colour on the woodland floor, dappled by the sunlight - where else is there a good display locally? Love Joanne
Since 2016, charges have been in place during peak visiting times to our bluebells at Dockey Wood. This has helped us with managing visitor flow and parking constraints, and enabled us to fund vital conservation work. If you plan on visiting us this year, please note that charges (£3.50 for adults, £1.50 for children, members go free) will apply between 10am and 4pm on:
27 and 28 April
4, 5 and 6 May
10 and 11 May
Bluebell season is very busy at Ashridge Estate, and we do advise visitors to visit off peak where possible.
You can find out more about Dockey Wood bluebells, and how we manage them here: https://bit.ly/3PPNHpD

A whole One Year ago - a Get Well Soon hatbox. Delivered with best wishes for post op recovery - from a caring boss & work friends. A low maintenance arrangement was ideal for this client.

Palm leaf manipulation is an art form in its own right. There are lots of folding, weaving and plaiting techniques to be mastered whilst training to become a florist.
This “origami” of the floral world can be an integral part in creating the line, form and texture of many contemporary floral arrangements.
The skill set and dexterity required to achieve the elaborate shapes in designs requires both patience and practice. I love using these techniques to accomplish precision in such intricate arrangements.
I hope you enjoy my sharing these photos below of previous designs executed by me, as part of my formal training. Thank you Joanne
I loved this softly feminine bouquet so much I didn’t want to part with it. 😍
Delivery was this afternoon to a lucky lady in Edlesborough.
I just couldn’t make up my mind, so here’s my top 3 fragrant blooms
What’s your favourite? I’m open to suggestions … though the curry plant shall never make my list!
I know Lilac can be a controversial choice, based on superstition, for indoor flower arrangements but I just love it!
In nature's tender grasp, a wondrous sight,
A flower's quiet journey, hidden from light.
Beneath the earthly veil, a secret it keeps,
A treasure wrapped in petals, as it slowly sleeps.
Within its fragile heart, a dream takes hold,
A promise of beauty, yet to unfold.
In the realm of silence, it gathers its might,
Preparing for the moment, to embrace the light.
With each passing day, it stretches its soul,
Reaching towards the heavens, to attain its goal.
A gentle dance with time, a symphony so rare,
The essence of existence, in the fragrant air.
The sun whispers softly, encouraging its bloom,
As morning dew caresses, dispelling all gloom.
The earth cradles its roots, in a loving embrace,
Nurturing its spirit, with steadfast grace.
And then, the magic happens, a spectacle so grand,
A kaleidoscope of colors, painted by nature's hand.
Petals unfurling, like delicate wings in flight,
Revealing the masterpiece, once hidden from sight.
A symphony of fragrance, enchants the breeze,
As the flower blossoms, its soul finds release.
A testament of life's resilience and grace,
In every vibrant petal, a story to embrace.
So let us cherish this miracle, ever so fleeting,
The bloom that captivates, with its silent greeting.
For in its brief existence, it teaches us to see,
The beauty in transitions, and the power to be free.
As petals dance upon the wind, their journey to embrace,
We learn the art of letting go, with poise and gentle grace.
For just as flowers bloom, then bid farewell in time,
We too must embrace each season, trusting in life's rhyme.
So marvel at the flower, as it dances with delight,
In its radiant presence, may your spirit take flight.
For in the bloom's grandeur, a lesson lies,
That even in the darkest hour, hope never truly dies.

After a manic week of planning, prep, bouquet making and deliveries I just wanted to take the time to thank everyone who placed their Mother’s Day orders with me. 🥰
This morning, I am getting excited about the summer blooms to come as mum occupies all the window sill areas in our household with her seed trays.
Hopefully we will get some beautiful home grown blooms that I can incorporate into all your summer arrangements 💐
To all you lucky ladies who received a bouquet of flowers, don’t forget to remove from the wrapping, place in a clean vase of fresh water which you change regularly . Your flowers will love you for it! 💐
Happy Mother’s Day, love Joanne x

Part 2:
The Mimosa flower, scientifically known as Mimosa pudica, is a sensitive plant belonging to the pea family (Fabaceae). It is native to South and Central America but is now found in various tropical and subtropical regions worldwide. The plant is also commonly referred to as the sensitive plant, touch-me-not, or sleepy plant due to its unique reaction to touch.
🌿 Cultural Significance: The Mimosa flower is the national flower of Venezuela. This International Women's Day we celebrate the diverse and impactful contributions of women from all walks of life.
🌼 Medicinal Metaphor: The Mimosa is used in traditional medicine, and women often play healing roles in their communities. Acknowledge the nurturing spirit of women on this special day.
🌍 Global Resilience: The global presence of the Mimosa pudica reflects the resilience of women worldwide. Please join me in recognizing and celebrating the strength, diversity, and unity of women this International Women's Day.
Part 1:
Meet Mimosa, traditionally symbolic on International Women’s Day. We have one in a pot outside our front door as a statement that we are a household of 3 generations of independent, empowered, strong women! Mum, Molly and me, love Joanne
The Mimosa flower:
🌸 Symbol of Femininity, of delicate beauty and feminine strength. Its unique sensitivity mirrors the resilience and adaptability of women around the world.
💪 Strength in Sensitivity: Like the Mimosa's leaves folding in response to touch, women display strength in their ability to adapt and respond to challenges. Embrace the power of sensitivity and resilience.
🌺 Blooms of Empowerment: Let the Mimosa's pom-pom blooms inspire empowerment, we honour the women who continue to bloom and thrive, making a positive impact on the world.
I have something pretty special planned to share tomorrow in support of love from Joanne
Some of us may struggle with Celebrations that bring the emotions of our personal circumstances to the surface … as Mothering Sunday approaches this is for all of you, with my love Joanne
The Step Mothers,

The single parents,
Those who expectant Mothers to be,
Those who have lost Mothers,
Those with good Mother relationships,
Those with complicated Mother relationships,
Those who are Mothers,

I couldn’t have put it better myself . Beautiful bouquet 💐
1️⃣PINCH PUNCH FIRST OF THE MONTH AND NO RETURNS1️⃣
I’m twirling my way into work through the rain and puddles today and sharing this picture of a bouquet standing perfectly on its own sweet stems…WHY???
Because a trained florist knows the importance of actual and visual balance when building a bouquet and it just makes me happy. You never get over that sense of satisfaction the first time you master it during training and your bouquet stands solid as a rock on your bench. Some people say it doesn’t matter but I think it shows a a level of skill, finish and professionalism that sets us apart from a supermarket bunch for instance. It’s part of the trained professional service.
What is one of those things that always makes you feel a sense of achievement no matter how small? Tell me 👇
