Costume Change - Buttons
📣 Calling our members - To button or not to button, that is the question!
As recently announced, our second pioneer - the Dickensians - are adding buttons to their costume to commemorate the button factor in Barcombe Mills during the Victorian era 🎩
We'd like to confirm that this is an optional addition. It's up to you whether you'd like to button up 🧵
We're looking forward to seeing lots or a few weird and wonderful buttons on your Victorian/Dickensian costumes from 2023!
Introducing BBS' Costume Change from 2023
📣 Calling our members, we've got some news: COSTUME CHANGE
After several months of research and seeking feedback from our members, the committee of the Barcombe Bonfire Society have decided to make some changes to our costumes.
From this year, the first pioneer will be Saxons with a full changeover by 2024. The second pioneer will remain Dickensian / the Victorian era but with an optional, sweet nod to Barcombe's history. Here's our Captian of External Comms talk about this change.
If you have any questions about this, feel free to comment below, direct message us or email [email protected]
We can't wait to see the costumes you create!
We want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our Pop-Up Pub last night! 🧡
We were delighted to see so many of you and glad you enjoyed a beautiful evening. We hope your heads aren’t too sore today 🤕
We just have one question for you, would you like us to Pop-Up again? 🍻

🎩🍻- From all of us at Barcombe Bonfire Society, thank you very much Andy Allsobrook for five epic years of chairmanship! This video is a tiny snapshot of some of the great times - 🎆🔥
'If the bonfire tradition is about remembering, family and community, Barcombe Bonfire Society was very fortunate to have Andy Allsobrook as the chairman for the past five years.
A true bonfire boy, coming from a family closely associated with bonfire in Barcombe, he has been a steady hand at the helm and both built the profile and committee into the impressive organisation it is now.
I am very fortunate to be taking over the role of chairman with such a formidable committee and community support. Thank you for your time as chairman, I hope you will enjoy celebrating many more with your children and grandchildren!'
