🎼ANNIVERSARIES WE'RE CELEBRATING🎼
As well as celebrating Schubert's 225th anniversary, we're celebrating the 150th anniversary of Vaughan Williams.

Ralph Vaughan Williams is considered by many to be a quintessentially English composer. He wrote symphonies, film scores, and the iconic Lark Ascending. He was also an avid collector of folk songs, and this is what we will hear at The County Assembly Rooms Lincoln on 25 September.

Camerata RCO - members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Alissa Firsova will perform Vaughan Williams' Six Studies on English Folk Songs as part of the closing concert of the Festival.

🎼 ANNIVERSARIES WE'RE CELEBRATING 🎼
This September's Festival seemed like a good excuse to celebrate Schubert's 225th anniversary.

Franz Schubert was born in Austria in 1797. He wrote over 600 secular vocal works, seven symphonies, plus a whole host of chamber music, incidental music and a large body of piano music.

Schubert pieces at the Festival this year include:
🎹 Arpeggione Sonata in A minor D 821
🎻 String Quintet in C major, Op. posth. 163, D 956
🎺 Ständchen D 889
🎵 Nottorno in Eb major, Op. 148 (D.897)

👋 MEET THE MUSICIANS 👋
If you've been to our Festivals before, you might remember Alissa Firsova - she's been our Artistic Director since 2019!

As well as curating the programme for our Festivals, Alissa is a composer, pianist and conductor. Since winning the BBC Proms/Guardian Young Composer competition in 2001, she has received two world premieres at the Proms, both conducted by Andrew Litton: her Bach Allegro was performed by the RPO in 2010 and her Bergen’s Bonfire Op. 31 featured in the Bergen Philharmonic’s 250th Anniversary Prom in 2015. Her music was also performed by Imogen Cooper, Henning Kraggerud, Tim Hugh, Julius Berger, Dante Quartet, Netherlands Blazer Ensemble, Seattle Chamber Players, Xenia Ensemble, Philharmonia Soloists, Northwest Sinfonietta, Interface Quartet, Tana Quartet and Britten Sinfonia.

Alissa will be performing in the opening and closing concerts of the Festival in September.

He won prizes in Improvisation and Performance at the examination for Fellow of The Royal College of Organists and has given recitals at La Trinité, Paris, and many English Cathedrals. 👋 MEET THE MUSICIANS 👋
Today we’re introducing you to rising star trumpeter Matilda Lloyd.

Hailed as “remarkable" by the Telegraph, Matilda Lloyd is a fast-rising young artist with exceptional poise and musicality. She is captivating audiences and critics alike with her artistry and communication, and her “flawless sound and virtuosic technique” (Saarbrücker Zeitung, March 2020) bring a unique flair to every performance.

You may remember Matilda's Matilda as winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Brass Final, and in 2016, she gave her BBC Proms solo debut, performing at the Royal Albert Hall with the Alpesh Chauhan and the BBC Philharmonic. We're delighted that she's making her LICMF debut at St Wulfram's Church in Grantham on Saturday 24 September.
