Handfasting is considered an old Celtic tradition. During this ceremony, couples declare their love to each other. The couple’s hands are tied together to symbolize the binding of two lives, or the union of two families.
Once the hands are tied, words are then recited that express commitment and unity. "Tie the knot" starting to make sense?

This popular ceremony actually dates back to 7000 B.C! The tradition actually started during a couple’s engagement but now is more popularly used in Wedding Ceremonies. The actual handfasting cords or ribbons have evolved in meaning throughout the years

Handfasting cords can be made with the colours of your family clans so once tied, the families are bonded. Similarly, couples can pick colours that represent their individual personality traits or colours that hold personal meaning to the couple or the individual

This is a beautiful ceremony that really highlights the hands and arms that work alongside each other, that love and support one another and are bound together

It seems to be a busy time of year for Naming Ceremonies. As Spring trickles in, we're starting to see lambs in our fields and little buds forming in our gardens. Even the sun is popping up to say hello, making longer appearances! This is a time of transformation and new beginnings, as we embrace the promises of brighter days ahead...
