Lisburn Rangers Boys Youth Academy

Yesterday our 2019 boys had their second match against Lisburn Rovers. Unfortunately Lisburn Rovers didn’t have a full team, we kindly lent them a team member in order to proceed. The boys played a fabulous game, they are starting to come together and work as a team. The boys created many opportunities to score and did a fabulous job pulling back to defend at times when the other team were pushing towards our goals. Super upfront skills shown by Caleb, Zach and Neme and a fabulous job pulling back to defend our goals shown by Niall and Alexander.

Lisburn Rangers Youth 2012s played ACFC this morning.

Right from the kick off the boys were straight into the blocking and tackling game. We pressed ACFC all over the pitch and it made for a very competitive match. We had a few chances early on but unfortunately the ball just would roll the way we would have wanted.
Sadly as the half wore on we fell behind due to a mistake at the back and soon after gave ACFC another chance to extend their lead.
ACFC added a 3rd with a free kick that Elliot was not able to keep out. Elliot did keep us in the match with a few saves.

Second half we again came out strong and forced the keeper into some saves and as the half wore on we were rewarded with a penalty after some nice passing and a great ball into Joseph.
Unfortunately keeper saved it well and again from the rebound. We continued to push forward and had some more decent chances but ball just wouldn't fall our way.

We move onto the next match all the better for the experience.

Today our 2013 colts took on Brookvale in the semi final of the shield. Our kids started off well playing some lovely football, creating some good chances with just no finishing touches, limiting them to very little chances but yet we seen ourselves 1-0 down at half time.

Second half we scored to equalise & we thought this could be our day but we didn't play to our usual high standards which showed , Brookvale scored another 3 goals to end the game.

Today just wasn't meant to be, can't win them all.
This will only make our great wee bunch stronger.

2015 youth team took on crewe United colts tonight. We defied the weather and took a hot start to the game with a cracking free kick from Joshua setting us off to a blistering start.

Crewe game back into it and equalised from a corner. We've struggled to cope with set pieces for most of the year and again we were a little slow to react to the second and third ball.

Few bright sparks in 2nd third as we managed to get up and support Joshua in numbers and for the first time looked alert and willing to move the ball. A lovely goal was taken by Joshua for his second of the night.

We took our foot off the gas a bit then and became more hesitant again allowing Crewe to equalise for the second time with the game ending a draw.

Fair result for both teams and a big lesson for our boys that we need to be brave, take responsibility and play our football if we want any success.

MOTM was Joshua Stewart again. His touch and hold up play was fantastic. The two goals were brilliant but his all round play is such a delight to see. Absolute star

A Lisburn derby for the 2013 Youth tonight to start the new premiership league. We started from the off playing great football. A cross came into the box and found Jack at the back post who made no mistake to put us 1-0 up. Lisburn City came right back at us and took a 2-1 lead going into half time. We were still in the game with great saves from Noah and solid defending from Logan, Ted and Ryan. The midfield of Carter, Abdul and Jack were running the show most of the game producing fantastic balls into forwards Brodie, Jacob and Charlie who caused the City defence some problems. Pushing for a goal we worked the ball up the pitch with great team passing when the ball found Olly who spun his defender and played a superb ball through to Carter who made an over lapping run and finished into the corner of the net. Relentless running and great performance from every single player tonight👏🏻 Close contest for MOTM but with a great performance and a goal to top it off, Jack was voted MOTM

Today the 2019’s played their first match of the small sided winter programme against Lisburn Rovers. Lisburn Rovers put up a great fight against our team and had many opportunities to score, however with our great defending skills and the boys working together as a team they managed on many occasions to drive the ball forward. Fabulous effort from all of the boys.

Storm Darragh stopped most of NI but it didn’t stop our 2013 Youth this morning. We got lucky with our match this morning still being on, played inside Colin Glen Dome. We came up against a strong Newry City who took an early 1-0 lead and held that lead going into the second half. Without a game in 4 weeks we struggled to find our rhythm. We pulled back a goal near the end of the game after Jacks shot hit the crossbar and the rebound was finished off by Harry. We kept going to find the winner but the Newry City goalkeeper was the standout player who made numerous saves throughout the game.

Crewe United kindly invited the 2016 colts for a friendly. This evening we brought the squad along and the boys thoroughly enjoyed themselves, playing with smiles all around. 💙

Luca was solid in defence and read the game superbly with nice interceptions and forward passing, Sonny brought incredible energy to the midfield and Jacob delivered some fantastic finishes. Everyone had their shooting boots on tonight! 👏

First defeat in two months for our 2011 Youth today as the boys took on Castlewellan at the impressive Lough Moss 4G pitches.

It was a bright start with Thomas hitting the bar from an early shot only for the rebound finish by Rees to be ruled offside but the boys soon took a two goal lead.
JackG hit the bottom corner from the edge of the box beating the keeper at the near post. Then Rees was once again in the box to get onto the end of a Thomas pass after some impressive football by Harry and Noah.
With 3 boys taken off soon after with injuries, Castlewellan stared to settle into the game and got a goal back before half time.

The 2nd half saw both teams pushing for the next goal. Mason and Callum came into the game putting in a great shifts. Unfortunately the Rangers couldn't convert their changes and Castlewellan capitalised grabbing the winner with mins to go.

Thank you Castlewellan for a competitive and great spirited game. 👏

Lisburn Rangers Youth 2012s had their first 11 aside league match this morning against Moira FC.

From the off the lads were on the front foot and were awarded a penalty which unfortunately the keeper saved. Then against the run of play we went 1 nil down. The lads tried to get back into the game but again we lost another few goals on the counter.

Second half we started brightly with good movement and hit the post and had a few other shots wide. The opposition goal seemed to be impenetrable. Again we lost another few goals but the lads kept on pushing forward.
Right at the end of the match we were awarded a 2nd penalty and captain for the day Elliot stepped forward to take it. He hit the post but the rebound came back to him and he slotted it in with both him and Kai striking it at the same time.

Overall a learning curve for the lads with some playing in new positions but I was super proud of all their efforts. Well done to you all 👏👏.

Both were superb and never stopped all match. Olly with so many brilliant blocks and tackles and Tom who played in a few positions but never seemed to be out of place.

2015 Colts Team played a strong Moira Youth side this morning.

We had taken a while to get started and get organised as we were put under pressure early on.
A goal from our Captain Max put us ahead and settled us down a bit.

We lacked a bit of intensity today throughout the team and that allowed Moira to pull some goals back.

This made our job hard as we had to regroup on a number of occasions.

Our boys started to make some progress as we made some changes,we grew in confidence and finished the game relatively strong.

Isaac grew into the game and made a beautiful assist to Elijah who smashed it into the back of the net.

We are proud of the boys as they didn’t let their heads go down and battled really hard for the win

POTM went to Eric for some great saves and excellent communication and to Lucas for some beautiful passing and set up play.

2016 Colts faced a strong Lisburn City side and from the kickoff, the team showed determination, passing the ball well, working hard, and creating numerous chances.

Just when it looked like it might not be our day in front of goal, Jacob delivered a perfectly timed through ball to Donovan, who calmly slotted it into the net. That goal sparked a change and from there, we were clinical in front of goal, creating and converting more chances.⚽️

Our goalkeeper Rudy was outstanding when called upon, pulling off superb saves to keep a well-deserved clean sheet. 🥅

Defensively, James, Bodhi, and Luca were rock-solid, holding their positions and making crucial tackles.👏

In midfield, Sonny, Donovan, Jude, and Beckett ran the engine room with skill and energy, while up front, Jacob and Bobby worked tirelessly, pressing and creating opportunities.⚡️

This team is making great strides! It’s fantastic to see the boys holding their positions, communicating, and truly playing as a unit. An absolutely brilliant performance from everyone today! 💙

Today our 2013 Colts played Crewe Utd. Took us a while to get going which resulted in an early goal from Crewe. Colts battled well to see it out to half time at 1-0. Second half saw the colts play some good football and forcing some great saves from Crewe keeper before we eventually equalised from a free kick from Danny. Unfortunately we gave a penalty away near the end & Crewe took the win. Great performance from the dream team as always ⚽️💙.

2013 Jets had a friendly game against Camlough this morning and were out the gates quickly with first half goals from Isaac and Billie putting us ahead. The second half was the opposite however as chances were missed and aerial balls were allowed to bounce, allowing Camlough to get on the scoresheet themselves despite Nicholas best efforts with dome crucial last gasp challenges.

2014 Youth went into a very important match today with both teams being on equal points in the league.

A slower start than usual seen us go down a goal but a perfect knuckle ball free kick from Buddy meant we were back in the game.

At a point in the second half seen us trailing 3-1 but this team never gives up and working hard together and using what we have done in training allowed us to get a strong hold of the game and we scored 2 goals from Ryan and Lennon to bring the game level at 3-3.

2015 Youth Team played tonight against a very well organised Lisburn Youth team. We started off slowly going behind and then got level with a great goal by Calum.

We then went ahead thanks to a great strike finish by Joshua and then back came Lisburn Youth to level the game. As the game progressed we got more into our stride and 2 more goals from Joshua and then a contender for goal of the season from Mylo secured the win.

So proud of the boys they didn’t let their heads go down and battled and worked really hard for the win.

MOTM was Theo who stepped in to cover at Centre half and controlled the game for us.
