Bespoke Flowers by Hanna Mulcahy

Bespoke Flowers by Hanna Mulcahy Flower grower florist I was born and grew up in rural Sweden near Gothenburg.

I trained as a florist under Hans Olof Andersson at Salvia Blommor before moving to the UK in 1997. At an early age I was inspired to become a florist by the work of Tage Andersen (a famous Danish floral artist) and by my love of nature. I lived and worked in Birmingham for five years – including spells as Margaret Tregoning’s In Harborne, Wild at Heart in Central Birmingham and WInsper’s Florists

in Moseley. It was while working at the latter that I helped the team win a Silver Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show for a floral tribute to the 1920s and the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun. In 2002 I moved with my family to Martley in Worcestershire and we have lived in the region ever since; now settled in Little Witley. I have worked as a freelance florist since our move to Worcestershire and have particularly enjoyed creating wedding flowers for many clients. My biggest passion remains the Natural World and I seek inspiration from nature in most of my work. I love to use seasonal flowers and incorporate locally picked and sourced materials whenever I can

Hello!

It’s been a long while since I posted anything on these little squares.
Sometimes things don’t turn out quite the way you expect and hope for.

Having dealt with some personal adversity in the last few months I felt unable to share anything on here.
My attention really turned inwards and I felt unable to create with flowers.
Instead I reached to my newly found fascination of natural dyes.
Plants and their incredible multitude of use has always inspired me.

Knitting and dying wool with natural plants have been so very healing. Feels a bit like I have been colouring and knitting myself back together again.

So here I am again in my knitted jumper dyed with last year’s flowers holding the first flower bouquet of 2025.

I would like to thank you all for your kind messages and understanding. Looking forward to a lovely spring with lots of flowers and colours.

Sending lots of love to you all
Hanna x

Happy British Flowers Week 🇬🇧

Here’s a big scoop of Peonies and Roses with a sprinkle of Sweetpeas for you all to enjoy 🤗

If you are buying flowers this week make sure they are British.
Supporting local independent businesses up and down the country.

If you don’t know where to look go to website and find your local flower farmer.

Also sending my thoughts to all those brave soldiers men and boys who landed on Normandy’s beaches 80 years ago today D-day.
Thanking you all for the freedoms we received from your bravery 🙏🇬🇧

Hello it’s me Hanna 👋

What a fabulous week of flowers it’s been.
Buckets and buckets of flowers and foliage cut for my lovely florist customers.
Also done a lots of planting out and getting the polly tunnel crop switched over from spring to summer flowers. Days may be longer but time flies in the early summer garden.
So many jobs and yes I love what I do 🤗 (perhaps not the bad back and dirty fingers so much but hey it’s all a part of the fun, right?! 😂)

This year I am mostly growing for florists, something I love to do. Making sure everyone that places an order with me gets something that little bit extra and special in their buckets. Pink lily of The Valley, Honeysuckle, Yellow rattle etc.
I believe that all the little unusual bits make a bouquet that little bit more special.
Big thank you to all you lovelies that have already placed an order for your upcoming events 🙏
You will keep me very busy this season!

Earlier in the week I also had the pleasure of welcoming Emma to the garden. Emma is the lovelies and most kind hearted lady. She took these beautiful pictures of me and Hattie my trusted work college 🐾

If you haven’t seen Emma’s work you must hop over to her page and have a look. I highly recommend her to anyone needing a brand shoot or just fabulous photos 🤗

Wishing all you lovelies a fabulous and beautiful weekend 😘
