In December we held our first Ebor Studio Mokulitho print workshop for our in-house artists.
This was led by our very own Laura who excellently explained how we can use this fabulous technique within our own work and collaboratively.

Thanks again to Pennine Townships and Arts Council England for funding for this great addition to the studio.

Who are we?

Followed us for awhile but still not sure who we are or what we do? Here’s a little more about us⬇️

Ebor Studio is a group studio and gallery in the Lancashire Pennine village of Littleborough in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. We have a membership of 26 local professional artists and designers who we support with opportunities, resources and facilities.
Alongside supporting local artists, we host events that give the public access to our work with exhibitions, workshops, talks and more.

This has been our first year providing a fully funded program, allowing us to deliver six exhibitions, billboards from local artists, events for families, art & music lovers with tailored sessions for LGBTQIA+ and disabled creatives.

As we prepare to head into 2024 and our next year of programs we will be sharing some highlights from 2023 and saying thank you to everyone within the collective and to our local community and beyond for continuing to support grassroots art in Rochdale!

"SPUME is the process of Audio examinations of liminal space. That ever-changing part between where the sea hits the coastline. Based on the migration patterns of how my mother and brother arrived here from the Seychelles and my fathers time at sea, engineering morse code in the merchant navy. Live coastal data is taken from; marine activity, tidal activity, migration routes of the oceans living species as well as shipping routes.

My work questions the politics of my body in the environment and how I can use it in my art; its connection to nature & onstage presence. With BodyVice I put my body through pain with a performance about pain. SPUME is a response to this, embracing physical limitations, literally lying down in performance, but maintaining audience connections: a deceptively simple act that challenges ableism and expectations for performer & audience. "

One of the many rivers that reemerged during last year's drought, forms the background for black freshwater coral. This is created in 3d print in response to found objects retrieved from the cracked earth of the reservoir bed. Black coral is known for its regeneration and purification. The coral's colour references coal dug from Bell Pits and sold to local households.

Massive well done and thank you to Babs for her beautiful work! 💐👏👏👏
