This why not say I love you with a beautiful houseplant instead of flowers? It will last a lot longer and produce less waste. ๐Ÿ’ž

If you do opt for flowers, ask the florist to wrap them in paper instead of cellophane and ribbons that canโ€™t be recycled. ๐Ÿ’

Please recycle your batteries โ™ป

If you got a new laptop or power tools for Christmas be sure to dispose of the old ones safely. Batteries of all shapes and sizes (from button cells found in watches to large power tool batteries) may contain hazardous components and cannot be disposed of in your kerbside recycling or refuse bin. Batteries can be disposed of at a recycling centre or a collection point in a supermarket, DIY centre or some local shops.

Most wrapping paper and cards can be recycled in your kerbside recycling bin unless they are glittery, metallic or foil based. Please remove bows and ribbons and keep it clean, dry and loose! ๐ŸŽ

If you have lots of boxes to dispose of, please donโ€™t leave these outside in the rain, save space and flat pack these and place in your recycling bin.

Christmas is fast approaching, and we all know that we end up with more rubbish than usual from presents, cards, food and drink. But so much of this can be recycled! This Christmas we will be following a family of 5 and taking a look inside their recycling bin to help you with what can and canโ€™t be recycled. ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ

Weโ€™re asking Arun residents to please recycle as much as they can. Find out more here: https://www.arun.gov.uk/news-archive/dont-rubbish-your-recycling-this-christmas-5050

Last week one of our recycling collection lorries nearly caught on fire! Thanks to the quick action of the Biffa crew and West Sussex Fire and Rescue, the load was contained and put out without any harm. A power tool battery was found to be the source of the ignition. Thanks to the crew efforts, they also managed to save the load so it could be sent for recycling.
PLEASE DON'T PUT BATTERIES IN YOUR BIN, there are lots of places these can be recycled - https://www.recycle-more.co.uk/recycling/batteries
