The End Fuel Poverty Coalition has estimated that 4,950 excess winter deaths in the UK were caused by living in cold homes during winter 2022/23.

The Labour government has now decided to cancel the Winter Fuel Payment for 9.3 million pensioners. Without this payment many pensioners will not be able to heat their homes adequately during the Winter months and will inevitably lead to an increase in the number of deaths through hypothermia.

One way to combat hypothermia is to wear thermal underwear/clothing as they are designed to safeguard against different kinds of heat loss. In terms of fuel poverty, thermal clothing helps to save lives by conserving body heat.

We, the undersigned, call upon Liverpool City Council to donate, at least, £20,000 to a fund for thermal clothing, which will allow Age Concern, councillors and local charities to distribute thermal clothing to those most at need.

Everton has been asset stripped by the incumbent Can @harrydoyle96 confirm what will happen if the CAT does not happen? What will be the outcome if this happens?
