How did you get to where you are today?
Today is Greg’s and my 8-year wedding anniversary, and this is where my journey of starting my own business and becoming a wedding florist began.
I studied Fashion at University. I had been a manager in retail for many years, luckily when shops were busy and had a buzz, staff took pride in customer services, and I worked hard, and I was a grafter. Things were changing, longer hours and the buzz was fading fast. I had been made redundant a few times and I was lucky enough to get a job supporting people back to work. Five years later I was still there running various contracts, however, I wanted something more creative.
My florist wasn’t the best. Every time she’d ask, “am I having fresh or faux flowers”. Now if you know me well, I don’t do fake! I’m a fresh kinda girl through and through (faux flowers have improved) I should have walked away but I didn’t. I kept asking for a price, which I found so odd, but she couldn’t tell me. I had a ripped piece of paper given to me late one night with some scribes on and that was my bill.
Greg had an accident a week before our wedding and had to be put into an induced coma and it was touch and go if the Wedding was going ahead.
Thankfully, he pulled through and it was full steam ahead, well sort of, he couldn’t be left alone, so any running around I had to do, I had to ensure someone stayed with him.
My florist didn’t care, she asked if I would pick the flowers up the night before and keep them in my fridge. I said no and I found them on my doorstep at some point the next morning. Lo and behold, I had a purple foam fake flower in my wedding bouquet!
This is when I knew I would offer a better service. I went back to study floristry in evening classes, while I was on maternity leave, with the aim to slowly grow a small business. I said to Greg I want to leave my job and he said yes ok do it!
To this day, Greg will tell me, don’t ever give up. There’re many times I have wanted to. My social media was hacked a year last March, my website another, even my bank account once. The very long hours I’ll work up to a wedding, my broken and sore hands, the lack of sleep at times, the list goes on. But I love it, I will always give more.

Firstly, remove any leaves or foliage that would be submerged in the water, as this can contaminate the water and reduce the life of your flowers. 🌺

Next, re-cut the stems at a 45° angle, as this will encourage maximum water absorption and help to keep your flowers hydrated and healthy. ❤️

Then, place the stems in a clean vase with freshly-drawn, lukewarm water as soon as possible, and ensure that the flowers are not in direct sunlight or exposed to drafts or extreme temperatures. 🌷
