Picked up a few things whilst visiting the world’s biggest magic convention in Blackpool last weekend.

A special mention has to go to Tony The Mind Hacker. He made a beautiful custom leather case for one of the effects I perform and I couldn’t be happier with it.

If any magician friends need anything made, I highly recommend Tony. The quality of his work, contact frequency and price were all great.

New year, new things!

Today sophia and I went to in Newport and I played my first ever in person game of Pokemon! (Well three matches actually!).

In short, it was great. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and made me feel really comfortable. Many thanks to Rich, Stacey and all the players, I’ll definitely be back.

My deck played well too, I won 2-0, drew 1-1 and lost 0-2, so I’m really happy with the results for my first matches.

Celebratory burger in the Market was a great way to finish the trip.

When I started to perform magic, I started with magic that was taught to me by other magicians. After a while, I was able to mix some of their ideas with some of my own to create effects that were personal to me.

I decided to share a few of these with the magic community, which isn’t an easy decision to make. What works for you won’t work for everyone and there are groups of magicians who can be negative and toxic.

Having said that, I’ve had the chance to work with some amazing people and getting comments like this let’s me know that I made the right decision.

The big question is what to share next?

It was amazing to be asked to perform magic and host the Wedding of Hywel and Jess as their wedding Emcee.

I help with the planning, I’m on hand for anything during the day and perform duties like introducing the speeches, bride and groom entrance and much more.

An amazing day today. I was asked to perform for the volunteers at Cat Protection Bridgend as part of their award celebration.

They do an amazing job and have housed hundreds of cats, including our Rosie!

I tried out some of my new effects and they went really well too, so that’s a bonus :)

Special thanks to my daughter for her photography skills and to Karen for giving us the grand tour of the facility.

What a difference a few days make!

Performing at two very different events this weekend. Friday was performing mind reading magic at whilst this morning I performed some family magic for my daughter and her friends after a camping night on a farm.

I know which one I prefer (clue: the first one!). I got through it, but children’s entertainers really work hard!

What an amazing day! Spent the morning with Lloyd Barnes and Christian Grace watching Christian’s new project being filmed, and then went to the Magic Circle to see a podcast record and Q and A with Derren Brown!

Such an amazing opportunity to get a signed copy of his new book and meet him. Thanks to Richard Young and the Magic Corcle for arranging.

Was it worth the 2.30am home time? Ask me tomorrow after I’ve slept for a bit :)
