My first ever unicorn piece. A mixed media artwork with beautiful watercolour blends, elements of fabric and stitch work, touches of gold leaf and finished with calligraphy.

Unicorns symbolise a purity and innocence but also a great power and strength. This piece is now in the shop and looking for its new home.

I’m in the shop today, Wednesday 5th, 10-3pm so do pop in for a browse.

Well hello! We’ve nearly made it to the end of January - not always the easiest month, how are we doing?

Opening hours in the shop this week are as follows:

I know I repeatedly use this quote in different pieces of work but it always seems to resonate with my lovely customers and for me also. There is often something in our lives that we’re hoping for, working towards or planning to achieve and very often this can bring a little bit (or a lot depending on what you’re planning!) of worry and fear. Truth is we’re never sure of how things will end up but I am a strong believer in a positive outlook and how this can often transform situations. It’s not always easy, but reminders like this can help us to think on the brighter side and be excited for the possibilities and opportunities that lie ahead of us.

Well what a blustery Friday it is, hope you’re all staying safe out there! I’m in the shop today, 24th, I’m open now at 9.15am and I’m here until 3pm.

Order books are open for custom pieces so if you have any birthdays and celebrations coming up do get in touch. I loved this personalised take on my Hiraeth piece. I was approached to create a watercolour but to add some words that were personal to the customer. I did offer to create a piece that could reflect a special place if they wished and they were over the moon to choose an image that was very relevant to the words and that meant a great deal to them.

I don’t charge any extra for custom orders so if you’d like to plan a piece I can always talk you through sizes and options and have lots of examples to show you to help you decide the direction you may like to go in. Just get in touch.

Fancy sharing a little love and putting a smile on someone’s face? Then here’s a lovely little gift. This could be a hint that St Dwynwens / St Valentine’s Day is approaching but let’s be honest any day is a good day to share some love and give flowers 🌹

A single red rose (fabric of course) with a tag you can keep or remove. I haven’t glued these into the blocks so you could always add these to a bunch of real roses or flowers (I’d get some ordered from Hollies Floral Design) and then you have a little keepsake as well.

They’re in the shop now but a few have gone already so if you’d like one do get in touch!

Hello and happy Wednesday! I am open today, 22nd, until 3pm so do pop in if you’re in Llanidloes today.

After the popularity of my Ogham tree calendar last week I have been designing some new pieces. A new larger piece will be appearing soon but I’d love to share this new piece here. I’m really pleased with how this smaller frame came out (32x32cm). It includes all letters of the Ogham alphabet in calligraphy and walnut ink along with their corresponding trees, illustrated with little watercolour leaves. Do get in touch if you’re interested in giving this piece a home.

January is a great time to quietly make plans for the future, plants those seeds and set intentions so that when spring arrives things are ready to grow! I always love to use this time to book adventures for later in the year so that I have something to look forwards to, so if there’s something you’ve always wanted to do why not look at how you can achieve that.

Sharing a wonderful collection of custom frames I created before Christmas. I always love adding meaning to a piece by incorporating special fabrics and these pieces are all created on a set of special napkins. I think it’s great to have something on display that might well just stay hidden away in a drawer gathering dust. Now they can be displayed and provide a daily reminder of special memories.

Ever the optimist, I’m aware these are springing up in my shop sooner then in nature but I couldn’t resist bringing a splash of colour into the shop.

Daffodils, bluebells, crocus and snowdrop brooches. All come with beautiful meanings for what they represent, a great reminder for the coming days where we’ll see their beautiful colour out and about, a sign of hope and renewal and new beginnings. Perfect to pop in the post for your nearest and dearest or for you to add to a jacket calling out for some colour.

£1 from the sale of every daffodil will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Good morning 👋🏻

I’ve been looking forward to sharing this piece that is currently in my January window display. You all know I love my trees and this is an Ogham tree calendar. Using dates that follow the lunar cycles, there is a tree for every month. Alongside this, is the Ogham alphabet, an ancient writing system that was used between the 5th and 9th centuries. Within its rings, this piece shows all 20 Ogham letters along with their associated trees.

A watercolour piece lined with gold leaf, this is now looking for a place it will be cherished.

Well hello, how are we all?

If I’m honest I’m feeling a bit of pressure to get rushing back to everything but I am making a concerted effort to ease into January at a little bit of a slower pace (not always easy).

With that in mind, I’d like to share that I will be opening the shop from Saturday 11th January. I will be returning with my usual opening hours of Wednesday to Saturday 10-3pm. A bit of a heads up that I do have a few prior commitments throughout January and so there will be changes to these hours that I will post on the shop door and on here with as much notice as possible. If you want to pop in with something specific in mind please feel free to get in touch prior to visiting just to make sure I’ll be there as I’d not wish to disappoint.

Custom orders are always welcome where you can either pop in or send me a message to discuss ideas and details.

And of course I have to share a close up of my new phoenix piece 🔥 “and still I rise…”. I do love the image and story of the phoenix and find it very inspirational. This is a watercolour ink and fabric mixed media piece, with a splash of gold leaf for good measure. This is now looking for a special place…

New year, new window…

✨ 2025 ✨

I thought I’d pop on briefly to mark the traditional new year. While January doesn’t feel like the start of anything new for me - as it’s still winter and blowing a gale out there - it’s a great time to review and reflect and to think about where you may wish to see yourself by the spring equinox or the summer solstice.

For me it’s a time of setting intentions rather than resolutions. Thinking of what you wish to achieve or experience. So go do the thing, book those tickets or buy those supplies to try a new hobby. I get told so many times “oh I’d love to do this if I had time”, so make the time. If it’s important enough you can plan little pockets of time to do something that may bring you a whole heap of joy and achieve something that may feed your soul.

I’ll be stepping slowly into January - I’ll confirm opening hours soon - as there’s lots of exciting new pieces and new projects bubbling away behind the scenes that I can’t wait to share with you. 2024 was a great year for me thanks to all of you wonderful people who support my little shop. I hope that I can continue to entice you into White Flamingo in 2025, bringing a splash of colour and a lot of love into your lives.

Everything handmade by me!

I have always had a love for art, craft and design and so I love to keep busy with different projects. After filling my house with lots of my handmade items my husband suggested I started trying to sell some of my makes and White Flamingo was born!

White Flamingo has continued to develop over time and I now focus predominantly on paper, fabric and wood.

Paper: I create a variety of bespoke stationery and wedding invitations. Many originate from hand painted floral designs that are than combined with beautiful font and finished off with special touches such as envelope liners, hand dyed silk ribbons and wax seals. In addition to the invitations I also have a variety of styling items available for hire so why not get in touch to see how I can help you design your special day.

Fabric: I love to use machine embroidery to create artwork and use this technique to create framed artwork and other textile items.
