Hi we just wanted to say a very big thank you to the following staff that were working in the Members enclosure at Bramham Horse Trials last weekend - Stuart - Jake - Jack & Bob the barman - they could not have been more helpful & user friendly over what was a very chaotic time for staff and members!! Also a mention for the young lady who was manning the members entrance both days - she was again very helpful and understanding. We did not understand however that you were not able to run the normal Members Bistro separately with bookable tables and the ringside seating - this is something we hope the Bramham committee will put back for next year for you so that the queues and delays experienced this year will not be repeated and you can do the brilliant job in both marquee’s that you have done in the past!
We look forward to seeing you all next year - hopefully both days in the Members Bistro!

Bramham International Horse Trials

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all your hard work and support during this year’s Event, as quite simply we would be unable to run without your help. We have had so many comments telling us how friendly and helpful the ‘team’ has been, so thank you for the part you played. We thought the team might be slightly rusty after not running for a few years, but it didn’t take long until the rust came off, and it felt great to be back and running.

Ian Stark created an outstanding course, that was intended to be ridden forward and it really highlighted the talent and courage of many combinations. It goes without saying that it is always sad to lose horses. He has however had so much praise and support for the course from many International riders and it was a great few days of sport.

The addition of the BE80 National Championships earlier in the week, made it quite a long week for some, but was universally well received and we hope for higher entries in 2023. The intention of creating a ‘mini Bramham’ for those BE80 competitors was, I think, delivered and we imagine the competition will grow year on year. The Arena Eventing once again proved popular on the Sunday and we had a stella Show Jumping entry, with much praise for the quality of the going in the Arenas.

The weather was pretty kind, for Bramham, with rain staying away although it was rather windier than I would have liked. The reasonable weather and desire to get back out to events meant our attendance was good with around 54,300 people across the four days, a 3% increase on 2019. However, this year, for the first time, our attendance counts are more accurate due to the use of the Ticketsrv even for those you paid on the day. It was wonderful to see so many people out of the course enjoying the Cross Country on the Saturday and also enjoying the variety of arena entertainment.

We are conscious that the decision to move the programme online was not universally well received, compounded by poor phone signal this year but our desire to minimise the Events carbon footprint remains, whilst continuing to maintain high safety standards. I remain convinced that recycling several thousand unused programmes is not a good use of resources, or as my children would say is a ‘waste of penguins’. Moving our caterers away from plastic bottles was an obvious move, and ensuring all of their coffee cups etc. were compostable also helps. Wetherby Skips sort through all our litter, recycling what they can and incinerating what they can’t to make electricity. We are virtually zero to landfill again. I take the view that every little helps, and we will continue to look for further improvements next year.

We would be delighted to receive any feedback that might help us to make next year better, the dates in which are 8th – 11th June 2023.
