We are honoured to name the library at Woodside Lodge in memory of dear neighbour
W M Murray (1913 - 1996) a Scottish climber, renowned author, and conservationist. Despite challenges as a prisoner of war, he penned acclaimed works like "Mountaineering in Scotland" and "Undiscovered Scotland." His leadership on the 1951 Everest Reconnaissance Expedition shaped mountaineering history. Beyond the mountains, Murray championed conservation efforts and earned an OBE in 1996 for his contributions.
We have a collection of every book written by this amazing man in our library .
