Hightae Primary School Coffee Morning

Hightae primary school would like to thank everyone who attended, donated to and helped with our coffee morning.
We have raised a massive £310 for the Alexander unit at D&G royal infirmary and £150 was raised by the children on their stalls for the school. None of this would be possible without the continued support of the community, thank you again.

A few raffle prizes were left unclaimed if you have the below raffle tickets prizes can be collected from the school

RFT Hall Association Committee

It has been suggested that we open the Hall to the public so that they can watch the football on our large screen. ( see picture below )
The suggestion is that we screen both the Scottish and English FA Cup Finals along with the Scottish and English games at this years Euros.

To facilitate this the Hall would have to obtain and pay for the appropriate licences so a charge of £2 per adult and £1 for under 18’s would probably be levied for each match.

The public would be able to bring their own food and drink to the viewings.

To gauge the possible interest for such events could people please message us via this page or by email to [email protected]

Without a positive feedback it is likely that we will not go ahead due to the costs involved.

RFT Hall Association Committee

The Committee are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the RFT Hall for the benefit of the local RFT Residents and the wider Community. We try and raise sufficient money throughout the year via Fund Raising Events to ensure we can pay for essential repairs / improvements along with incidental costs such as insurance and not forgetting the ever increasing cost of Electricity and Heating Oil.
Committee Members are usually elected at the Annual AGM held around the end of September each year. The current Committee consists of 10 members the majority of whom have served on the Committee for many years. We meet around 8 times a year and obviously have to staff any events we organise.
I am sure I will be forgiven for saying we are all not getting any younger and recently as Committee Members have left we have not had any applications from residents of the RFT to replace them.
Our next meeting is on 8th April at 7:30pm in the RFT Hall and although these meetings are usually just for Committee Members we would welcome any resident of the RFT to attend this meeting with a view of being co-opted onto the Committee prior to a formal election at the AGM.This invite is for anybody aged 18 or over who resides within the RFT. ( This is a requirement of our constitution )
We hope that this open invite will result is some “new blood” and possibly “new ideas” to ensure the Committee can continue into the future and that this valuable Community resource can be maintained and it can continue to be used as a venue where people can pursue their hobbies, socialise and enjoy themselves.

RFT Hall Spring Craft Fair

This event, advertised recently, was to take place on Saturday and Sunday the 23rd and 24th March. Unfortunately due to the small number of applications for stalls it has been decided to cancel the event.
We hope to have a Craft Fair in October and hopefully more Crafters will apply for table space.
TRhe two Craft Fairs held in Spring and October are the Hall's biggest fund raisers and have been essential in helping us maintain and improve the Hall for the benefit of the local residents of the RFT and indeed the wider community.
If anybody has any ideas for fund raising events we can hold at the Hall then please message us or contact any Committee member so that we can consider the idea.

Proposed Quarry

Before it gets published here or elsewhere I have just had a heated conversation with a person I blocked from our page. I apologise here for letting my emotions get the better of me. Despite numerous requests to stop commenting about the quarry proposal this has continued. This is the reason the person was blocked.
The notice produced by the RFTCC was published on this page so it could reach a wider audience. A thing that had been asked for at the public meeting The Hall is completely non political and our normal posts are all about HALL Events although we do publicise things such as Fish and Chips, Pizza Wagon and School and other charity events.
After assurances that these posts will stop I have unblocked the person concerned.
Can I please ask everybody to use other means to comment on the proposed quarry. There is a new FB page "stop the quarry hightae" which would appear to be a more appropriate place to post comments.
If people do not like the way the Hall FB page is managed then I will step down and someone else can manage it or more likely it will cease.
