News flash for y’all.
It is with heavy and broken hearts we pen this epistle - our home, and many other people’s home from home, the Constitution in Camden, has been closed forever (Edit - it has closed as an independently-owned pub/performance space, Young's took over last week and closed it down immediately). To say we are devastated is an understatement, but pubs in London have a hard time. There wasn’t a place quite like it, and it will be hard to replicate the brilliance of that cellar bar anywhere else, but Squish will ride on.
Our hearts go out to Martin, the landlord, and all the staff who supported us, helped us out and were genuinely good people. It was a social and creative hub for so many in the community, and it’s loss will be keenly felt, not just by us but by the multitudes of people who drank, played, danced, DJ’d and merely existed there. For those of you who had the pleasure of coming down to one of our parties, you’ll know it was a special place. If anyone has any vids or pics of what transpired down there, we’d love to see them.
Watch this space for future bits, but for now, join us in pouring one out for one of the finest boozers Camden has to offer.
