Julia is driven by her passion for technology, automation, and learning. With a background as a software developer, she's consulting companies on DevSecOps best practices. Before discovering her calling in IT, she worked as a simultaneous interpreter, providing translations at high-level diplomatic meetings, international conferences, and on television. In her free time, she likes cooking, playing chess, travelling and learning new things.

Dr. Marianne Charaf, Partner at itopia AG, holds a PhD in Business Informatics. Marianne grew up, lived and worked in several countries. As a woman in IT and a mother, she brings a unique perspective to her leadership roles. With extensive experience in strategy and transformation across diverse industries such as financial, public services, and life sciences, Marianne is dedicated to fostering synergy between business and IT domains to drive data and digital transformation initiatives and customer experience.

Her dedication to diversity and inclusion extends beyond professional endeavours, for example along her active involvement in volunteer work as Co-President of the City of Zurich's Foreigners' Advisory Council, work aimed at promoting diversity, inclusion and empowering talents.

In our latest episode of the Women in DevOps podcast, we caught up with the incredible Barbara Lisa, Director of Transformation at Beyond Gravity, Entrepreneur, Author, and Tedx Speaker. ๐Ÿš€ ๐ŸŒŽ ๐ŸŒˆ

She brings two decades of transformation experience to the digital context. She has worked in leadership positions driving transformation for global businesses like British Petroleum, World Health Organisation, and Roche to name a few, as well as set up an international business at the age of 24 which she later sold to pursue a consulting career.

Barbara holds an LLB and LLM from Charles University Prague, a legal diploma from the University of Cambridge, and an Executive MBA from Bayes Business School, City University, London.

She is a passionate traveller and speaker and was voted the most inspirational woman in Slovakia in 2020. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, art, gardening, and supporting charitable causes for childrenโ€™s education and displaced people.

Today we are spotlighting the fabulous, Leanne Pienaar! ๐ŸŒŸ ๐Ÿ‘

Leanne is the Head of Engineering and Infrastructure at Rightmove, leading the delivery of a self-serve data platform for the business. Leanne gained experience building data infrastructure in both AWS and GCP while working at a global engineering consultancy called Arup, before joining Rightmove.

She is now focused on growing the data engineering team, building strong data foundations, and incrementally delivering value through data use cases.

We're feeling nostalgia from our recent trip to Frankfurt here at Women in DevOps! โœจ ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

Women in DevOps ambassadors Alfie Rice and Billie Spencer ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆ headed off to sunny Frankfurt for an inclusive panel session at this year's Tech Show Frankfurt, 'Decoding Intersectionality in DevOps: The Future of Belonging.'

We explored the impact created by building and nurturing intersectional teams, in particular, focussing on innovation, and challenging, thinking and encouraging fresh ideas to promote creative problem-solving. Other talking points included creating an open dialogue, actively listening and enabling psychological safety.

A final and significant topic addressed was the role of recruitment, and how accessible pathways, bias-free hiring and overall inclusion can help contribute to healthier hiring decisions.
