ENGAGED, NOW WHAT?
Below are important decisions you will need to make early in the wedding planning process to ensure you and your partner are on the same page.
1. Create a Budget- A wedding CAN be expensive as you want it to be. You will need to establish a budget which is the best way to stay on track with wedding expenses. Budget determines so many factors you must consider for your wedding day: venue, guest list, bridal party size etc. We have a budget spreadsheet template to help you track your expenses.
2. Your Date/ Season- If your budget allows for the flexibility of your wedding date, consider the seasons (Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter). If your dream venue is in England and it always rains, make sure there’s a rain plan. The seasons will help you narrow down the colour palette. Oh, and yes, the season may determine the pricing of venues.
3. Wedding Venue- This is a big one. How many people can it hold? Where is the venue located? Can grandmother physically climb the stairs? Once you have a budget in place, you can start looking for a place with all your needs and wants.
4. Draft your Guest List- Your budget is going to dictate a lot of this part. Each guest adds to the number of plates your caterer will prepare, chair rentals, favors etc. We recommend choosing a number that smaller than your venue’s capacity. If there is room in your budget, you can add on later (just don’t make it the day before the wedding).
5. Hire a planner or a coordinator? I strongly recommend having one, if planning a wedding makes you pick up a brown bag, hire a wedding coordinator. I always say, ‘your biggest expense in wedding planning, is what you ‘don’t know’. Schedule your complimentary consultation with us for your wedding planning needs.
