As we all know, organising and producing events is a load of very hard work, and exceptionally expensive in 2025 - supporting these types of events is important for the community and for the arts industry in the U.K. - we think £128 is a bargain for the amount of workshops, entertainment and things to do at an Event that’s grassroots

Despite inflation reducing to 2% food and labour costs continue rising due to factors like catching up to previous rises in inflation, increased venue service fees, rising food and energy costs, and a general trend towards prioritising quality experiences over quantity, meaning organisers are allocating more budget to create impactful events, leading to higher per-head costs for attendees in the U.K. - so, it really is a case of use it or lose it - especially with such a niche event as BJC, we hope we will see as many of you there to support this amazing event in 2025 - huge thanks to revel puck for making this happen. You are stars ⭑

See you in the field!

Since launching ticket sales on Wednesday we’ve received a fair amount of feedback that this year's BJC is looking a little different to previous years and we understand there might be some questions.

We’re going to be running a live round table discussion/Q&A with Luke Hallgarten Revel Puck's artistic director, to answer questions and hear suggestions, in the meantime here are some topline pieces of information:

- We took on BJC in November 2024 and have been working tirelessly to make it happen – from writing 160-page event management plans, to desperately trying to secure a juggling hall, to persuading the council to allow us to host a campsite. It’s been a huge amount of work in a very short space of time.
- We’re a VAT registered company, meaning we have to charge 20% (plus Square's processing charges) on all tickets – each full price weekend ticket therefore only brings in £128 (which is actually £2 less than last years on the door price).
- We’re taking a huge financial risk, with the very real probability of no reward because we want to put this event on, because we believe in it. You can see our topline numbers at the link at the bottom of this post.
- We have followed council guidance on best practice in terms of recommendations on maximum campsite pitches per person, amount of personal food and beverages brought onto site etc. Naturally, we’re not going to be going around with a tape measure, we know the juggling community will be respectful of each other and know that if someone is not being respectful it is our responsibility as the event organisers to ensure everyone is able to have a good time.
- We really appreciate feedback and questions, and hold our hands up to say we could have communicated more clearly – we’re trying our best with the limited time and resources we have.

The round table/Q&A will be on Facebook at 6pm GMT on Wednesday 19 February.

Please share any questions or suggestions you have for Luke below. This form is anonymous but if you'd like a personal follow up, please leave your email address in the second box.

Sad News.. Today’s workshop will be the last ELCH workshop of 2024, but don’t worry, we have even more booked for 2025!

We have been very lucky to have had some amazing workshops this year, thank you to each and every instructor for sharing your amazing skills.

This weeks workshop will be on Hoop Coinflip Variations & Combos

What To Expect

Coinflips are the instructor, Ava’s favourite trick to work into combos, and they have endless possibilities for variations.

This workshop is open to all levels and for those who have struggled with these types of trick.

Ava can help teach the basic coinflip, and for those who are more advanced, they’ll share some of their favourite variations and how to put them into combos as transitions from chest rolls, tosses, behind the back flips, and more!

About The Instructor

Ava has been hooping for 5 years and doesn’t plan on stopping soon! They love sharing hoop tricks I have discovered over the years.

BIG PHYSICS DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS!

Join us Wednesday for Isotosses Deep Dive on 13th of November at the Limehouse Town Hall

What To Expect

Did you know that poi, and by extension all props, don't subscribe to the alleged "laws" of gravity?

If you bring some poi, I'll show you how you can turn gravity off and stick it to the big physics man through learning isolated tosses!

Some spare props will be available if you wanna stick it to Big corp™️ at the same time, but ideally bring your own poi bc different poi behave differently.

About The Instructor

Session will be taught by Maximum Cal-cium, part clown, part poi spinner, all jokes..
