I love my new design for my Sri Lankan Roasted Curry Powder by the amazing designer ! He did a fab job!

This little beauty will be displayed at the Golden Forks Awards on 10th sept, where I’m up for the award of Outstanding Bursary Winner! 🎉🎉

Here’s a little reminder of the background!

In February I entered the Great Taste Awards through a Bursery for micro producers (essentially small independent food producers). As you’ve hopefully seen I’ve just won a 3 star Great Taste Awards 2024 for my Sri Lankan Roasted Curry Powder!

As the next stage, The Great Taste Awards & are hosting the annual Golden Fork awards at Battersea Arts Centre in September. And guess what……I’ve just heard I’m in the running for their first ever Golden Fork Award for Outstanding Bursary Winner and that I’m invited to be their guest and to host one of the 23 tasting stations for the event! Friggin amazing!

Just so you know, The Golden Forks will be attended by the great and the good of the food world. Retailers, buyers and influencers will be in attendance to hopefully hear my story and sample my nominated product. And I’m taking my mum as my guest of honour seeing as she is the brains behind the amazing recipe for my Sri Lankan Roasted Curry Powder!

And there’s more….the want to use my curry powder in their catering for the evening of the event to the 300 attendees, retailers buyers and influencers! Can you believe this! I literally can’t 🤩🤩🎉🎉🎊🎊

I’m unbelievably proud to announce that my Sri Lankan Roasted Curry Powder has just won 3 Stars in the Great Taste Awards 2024!

Sri Lankan Roasted Curry Powder....for those of you that don’t know…is the secret to any good Sri Lankan curry! In fact any good curry generally!

Just a few tablespoons of this powder & it will transform your curry! And this recipe is something very special...my mums very own special blend of 11 herbs & spices, roasted & ground by hand.

I entered this product in February this year having won one of the 50 places on the bursary scheme for micro producers, and never expected to win any stars let alone 3!

Just to put this in context….of the 14,000 entrants only 1.9% (266 products) received 3 stars, representing “extraordinarily tasty food and drink”.

Swipe to see the judges comments! They are so brilliant and this is all down to my mum!

I couldn’t be more proud, of my beautiful mum with her outstanding recipes that combine the old and the new of Sri Lanka, and a lot of herself! And of my heritage to this amazing country! Proving just how unique the flavours of Sri Lankan cuisine are!

Stay tuned as I have more unbelievable news coming soon re the Great Taste Awards

You can grab one of the beauties from our store or from - you might just need to be a little patient as we’re having an influx!

Fingers crossed we can see this product in a retailer very very soon!

Posted • Over at we're gearing up for South Asian Heritage Month.

We've curated the culture drop a digital programme that we're running throughout South Asian Heritage Month looking at Sri Lankan Heritage and identity.

We asked to curate a playlist of Sri Lankan tunes, old and new. Indy is a Sri Lankan, award-winning, music PR and we couldn't think of anyone more perfect for this job. She's put all her music talents together to come up with a playlist of 'banging' tunes which we're releasing later this week. We're excited, I hope you are!

The Sri Lankan Culture Collective has been co-founded by Rosh Thana and me. It's a platform to celebrate Sri Lankan culture and creativity. Our celebrations will culminate in an event on 22 September with a one-day festival of food, sari draping and music. Check the link in the bio and join our waitlist.

Fingers crossed….theres some exciting news coming soon! I know I’ve been extremely quiet on insta but that’s because I’ve been squirrelling away behind the scenes, planting seeds, hoppering around and hopefully creating something which, being part of the Sri Lankan diaspora, we can all be proud of! Keep your eyes peeled!

Posted • Hoppers have become an iconic symbol of Sri Lankan cuisine.

With only a handful of humble ingredients, hoppers are notoriously hard to make.

The batter needs to be perfect, and so does your cooking technique. There isn't much margin for error.

One person who has nailed this is Rosh, founder of . Like me, Rosh is Sri Lankan. And her heritage runs through her business.

Rosh has used her skills to create hopper-making kits, which makes the process so easy. It's, in fact, genius.

I wanted to explore hopper-making. To write about it and to photograph it.

Rosh let me spend time with her to understand the process and capture how they are made.

Well what can I say, I’m so proud of what we’ve achieved and of my amazing fellow organisers and .ldn - we produced a breathtaking event, like nothing out there right now, bringing together the Sri Lankan diaspora through food, fashion, and music, a real current take on our community and its creativeness! I’m emotional because it’s seriously the best event I’ve ever been part of, reminding me how privileged I am to be able to witness this, it’s a like there’s a force taking off! Made me feel so proud of my heritage and want to celebrate it everyday! Here are a few pics of the event taken by the very talented !

All the profit raised from the event is going to help feed vulnerable communities back home in Sri Lanka through the brilliant and I’ll share a post on how much we raised over the next few days.

A few special shout outs:

To the fabulous .ldn who alongside collabed on food to produce the beautiful meal you can see here, and seriously helped me bash out 140 hoppers in what must have been a record time! 🤣 we had a soya curry, hoppers, sambols, pig head & breadfruit cutlets…what a spread!

To who curated the most amazing line up of DJs, singers & songwriters - Arjun, Silent Engine, Nush, Nangi and My Panda Shall Fly.

And to the absolutely brilliant who ran her iconic “off beat” sari workshop for us (a sell out at the design museum).

Also to all those who donated to the raffle prizes to name a few .ldn .perera.kitchenware

To the trouper volunteers, who worked tirelessly to help make this event so special! to name a few.

And last but by no means least to all the guests that turned up and ate, danced and drank! What a turnout! You were the real ones that made it! 🎉🎉🎉

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart…and I just know we will produce another amazing celebration of Sri Lanka very soon! Watch this space!
