Gander Photography An event is a once in a lifetime experience. I make sure you can be there over and over again. My goal is to put a smile on your face.

I am a portrait, event and boudoir photographer that captures the true emotion of your day, be that a milestone birthday,wedding, barmitzvah or portraiture. That can be by putting you back into the event, highlighting things you did not see or by showing a side of you that you have been hiding. I want people to fall in love with their pictures and in turn fall in love with themselves. I cover all

aspects of photography from maternity and new born, individual & family portraiture, barmitzvah, weddings and other events aswell as boudoir. An after party studio shoot.

Pictures on the day are great but let's face it who doesn't want to dress up all over again and be a studio model for a day. Bring your party dress, you can bring a friend if you want to, and a few different outfits to change into.

Sessions take place in my studio in Central London only. Limited availability at weekends.

2 hours and a selection of edited images to add to your collection, print or used on your socials.

I'm going to add this option to the first 10 to book any event package for 2025 as an additional complimentary option, though it must the place within 3 months of the party taking place.

That's additional value of £450 for every event taking place in 2025.

If you know a photographer you will know about a 365 project. Essentially a new picture a day for every day of the year. I've tried it before and never kept up.

So I'm mixing it up the new picture are a 52 project ( one a week )
365 is for new edits.

I'm having a lot of fun with extreme edits of old images. This was shot in Jan 2020.

I've been editing it on and off all day. There's a lot of changes here to keep up with, way more than I would ever consider to be 'acceptable' The original was more than likely a 'light test' snap however this fresh edit, the crop, the masks, the blends and the colours all add up to a very different image.

It's gonna be a fun 2025

2024 stick a fork in it you are done ...

Before you are over let's take a look at the to do's for the last 12 months.

It's been a great year for events but I wanted to work more with businesses and yep I've done that, that's led me to creative consulting for clients as near as 10 minutes away and as far away as Florida which has been incredible.

I wanted to launch a podcast .. Beyond The Thumbnail. A look into the where's and why fors of how some of the pictures I take are made. It going to happen but for the moment it's taking life on Tik Tok www.tiktok.com/ganderphoto is where you'll find me

I wanted to print more, for me. I have but I could certainly do more.

Where I didn't quite make it was going to galleries, exhibitions and just getting out with a camera to take pictures for the fun of it.

So thank you to everyone in 2024 .. it's been a remarkable year and one that will make 2025 a fantastic place to be.

It's time to start looking back at the shoots of 2024.

We starting with this visit to the studio to capture the batmitzvah dresses and to have some fun times.

Something that will never change, no one likes more than to dress up and have their time front of the camera, especially if they can bring their best friend along.

I've known Heidi for a very long time, she's waited patiently for her turn through the parties of her two older brothers. When it came to her turn not only did we get great party pics but she came to the studio also.

Whilst the pictures we take at parties are exceptional and a great memory of the event I’ve always felt that something has been missing. There’s more life in your party dress and it deserves to be celebrated.

The after party portrait session is a great way to celebrate the best day of your life. A half day in the studio, with or without a friend. Some pictures indoors, some pictures outdoors. All dressed up and something a bit more casual. take your time and enjoy the experience.

Often I'm asked, what makes me different.
Why should I choose you over the others that are out there that can take my photos for me ..

One of my answers is this ...

Light ... there are so many different ways of capturing it ..

In between all of the highlights, the fun shots and the fun and games I like to mix things up. I'm a light-a-holic and I live in the shadows, play with the contrast, capture the dark.

There are so many ways to record a moment but there really are only one or two ways to capture it. To hold the freeze the emotion. The moment a lady leads a havdalah service. A man leins on the bimah for the first time. A young cousin sees out shabbat. Whilst a picture may well be worth 1000 words they still need to be the right ones ...

I'm not lying when I tell you that the people that have received these images have drawn breath, stopped in their tracks and smiled to themselves.

I see the things you don't. I capture the vision that will last for a life time ..
I turn memories into moments.

I asked chatGPT why branding headshots don't work ...

Here's some of the rubbish it came out with ...

1. Lack of Personality and Authenticity
2. Poor Quality and Lighting
3. Misalignment with Professional Brand
4. Outdated Appearance
5. Inappropriate Attire or Setting

I call BS on this ... I'd rather say that this is what you need in branding images

1. Authenticity Over Perfection:
Be less corporate and more relatable. A bland image is just that, just like all the rest. It doesn't tell a story, it doesn't give insight, it isn't memorable. You are showing up to be remembered so don't look like everyone else.

2. Quality is Subjective:
Just sometimes, the in the moment snap can be more genuine than a fully staged image. There is a place for UGC but use it sparingly in the mix. If every shot is staged, it looks well staged, if every shot is a selfie it gets monotonous so go ahead and mix things up.

3. Brand Flexibility:
I have lost track of the people I've worked with that believe they have to look and behave a certain way to be 'professional'. There is a certainly level of expectation but that doesn't mean you can't mix things up with bold choices of venue, clothing or pose.

4. Embrace Change:
I am a fan of having a range of images that you can use across a period of time that are suitable for the right time and the right moment HOWEVER, don't change too much, too frequently. Instead, choose images that capture your essence at a particular moment in time—showing growth and evolution rather than a perfect, static image.

5. Dress for Your True Self:
What you wear for a shoot should reflect who you are, not just what is deemed “appropriate” for your industry. Wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident. This authenticity will shine through in your images.

6. Engagement is Key, Not Formality:
A headshot should showcase your true self, not a stiff, corporate persona. Smiles, laughter, and genuine expressions resonate far more than a forced serious look. Show your passion and enthusiasm

Because it's always great to look for new ways to do old things ...

with over 10 years a photographer in the event industry it's a fast moving place and it's always good to find new ways to do old things.

One of the hardest things to do with a single still image is to convey the excitement and energy in the room.

Until now ... I've been playing with a few of the pictures of 2024 and these have turned out great.

Because .. it's all about being who you are, not what you think people want to see. Do you think there's a time and a place for 'silly' branding images ? If I'm going to spend significant time and money with someone, I want to know they'll be enjoyable to work with. As a branding photographer, my goal is to capture that. Beth : Is That Me ?

It's always a guessing game ... Which one will be the profile picture? Which one will be the Chosen One ? While Beth Thomas had many wow moments this was the one .. this was the picture that took her breath away and now stares from the screen across her social platforms. Couldn't be more happier. --- Beyond The Thumbnail Beth is one of life's true characters. Like many, she doesn't belive that she can look good let alone great on camera. Whilst we shoot a set of images on a white background the vibe was wanting more. A gold sequin curtain provides the perfect backdrop against the greens the blues and purples of the hair. It scream out I'm different. By revealing that all that has happened is a crop and a tone change, basic photo editing, Beth can see how much of this great image is her and her alone. I'm Jules and I've been taking images of people who think they can't look good in the frame for over 10 years. I've changed all of their minds and in most cases they come back again and again. Because ... I never can tell which one you will use When I deliver head shots, there are always great reactions, that said it can be a hard time trying to guess which will be The One. You know the one that is used. That will be a profile image. Though Beth Thomas had many good reactions to her images, I don't think I had to work too hard to decide which one she would use. Most people think that they can't have a good photo, let alone a great one.
