It's been a while since I introduced myself on here and whilst things have certainly changed personally with the arrival of my beautiful little girl, Aria, it's been lovely to continue to work and stay creative with a handful of weddings this year.

As I continue to enjoy the last few months of my maternity and prepare to jump back into a busy 2024 wedding season, let me take you back to where it all began.

I'm Hannah — Founder & Creative Director behind Studio Porter. My business originated back in 2020 from a love of planning, creativity and bringing people together. I’m a creator, maker, storyteller and coordinator who specialises in design-led, purpose-filled occasions where considered planning and innovative design is always at the forefront.

It was important for me to build a brand and business that represents artistic, modern couples searching for an intuitive planning, yet equally thought-provoking design process. The Studio's work is inspired by art, interiors, architecture, fashion and personal stories. I’m drawn to contrasting muted tones and refined details that, when brought together, offer a truly authentic and cohesive design full of emotive flare. I provide a truly bespoke experience tailored to the needs and wants of each couple, where I help, inspire and guide them through this next chapter in their lives.

A Late Summer's Evening
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A very personal project that took place back in August — A whimsical and poetic editorial that tells a story of personal memories, feelings and emotions felt during Summer of 2020, when the country was experiencing its first lockdown.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Focusing on the simple things that we adore and love, surrounded by our closest loved ones; A taste of happy nostalgia, amongst uncertainty and worry.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Inspired by what an 'ideal perfect Summer evening' would be like, wandering through grassy meadows and fields, sitting in the park sipping wine, where soft light bounces off the overgrown wild flowers and burnt-out grasses and where shadows are formed by hazy beams of light when the sun starts to finally set — A part of the day where there seemed to be an element of stillness and calm, whilst feeling the early evening sun kiss your skin. A small moment in time that felt stripped back and appreciated for what it was, during those tough days.

Inspiration also taken from artist Rebecca Louise Law and her artwork, which emulates beauty in its most natural form.

A beautiful Cotswolds wedding, held at The Compton Gallery near Cheltenham back in June.

I was approached by B&C to help Design and Style their Summer wedding. A dream couple to work for, our contemporary aesthetics aligned where the overall day was filled with wild, overgrown foliage and florals and bold, minimalist stationery.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The overall tablescape was inspired by B's love for linen, texture and clean styling, with hand-made ceramic platters and bowls featuring local home-grown lemons and seasonal flowers. There were plenty of personal touches throughout, from the ever-present Dahlia to home-made confetti provided by friends.

Cristina and Augusto decided to host an intimate day with their loved ones, in celebration of their civil marriage, ahead of their larger celebration overseas next Summer. There was laughter and dancing between the two families, who were only meeting properly for the first time that weekend — A day filled with so much joy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I completely fell in love with the couple's love story. From the moment myself and Cristina connected, it was though our paths were always meant to align. A soft and sophisticated colour palette, featuring earthy greens, rosy pinks and muted red hues provided a tasteful and stylish focal point to the celebratory lunch, with pebble-shaped menus adding a modern edge.

Bridal designer Sabina Motasem came to me in need of some design and styling advice, to help create a day that felt like a true reflection of hers and Stuart's personality's, loves and passions.

Known for her sustainable and regenerative wedding brand, it was important to the couple to carry this commitment over to their wedding day. Ceremony florals were repurposed throughout the day and then, along with the table flowers, bunched together as keepsakes and handed out to guests as they left for the evening, for them to take home and enjoy for a little longer.

The overall look and feel was kept summery, light, wild and overgrown - All in-keeping with the un-touched landscape and wildlife surrounding the venue.

I can't wait to share more from their beautiful day.

Last week was certainly one to remember for so many reasons; A day entirely based around all of their loves and wants.

From getting legally married in a city that they both adore, to enjoying cake and champagne with their closest friends, finishing the day off with a private dinner for two at a top London restaurant, complete with a seven-course tasting menu and a 1969 bottle of red.

Working with a planner for 'Full Wedding Planning' comes as an investment, but it's a decision that more couples are now seeing the true value in and ultimately, booking.

Even prior to selecting a venue and booking vendors, the first supplier couples should consider before anything else is to work with a wedding planner. Some of the main regrets many couples feel post-wedding is not budgeting properly, feeling stressed and not enjoying the wedding day enough, picking the wrong venue and more often than not, not having worked with a planner from the very beginning. June and July are the busiest months this season — Next week consists of final preparations for the lovely B + C.

After a fabulous year of planning, I’m then so excited to see J + F elope on the beautiful city of London that they call home, followed by a weekend of celebrations up in Suffolk.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The month then concludes with S + S, who are having a joyous day complete with all their loved ones in Walthamstow.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s within these final weeks that couple’s really rely on their suppliers to provide the support, guidance and reassurance in the lead up to the day. Organisation with final prep and intricate detailing is one of the key stages to completing a successful and enjoyable planning journey, where clear communication and trust during this stage gives couples confidence going into the wedding itself 🤍

When to hire a wedding planner.

Couples often approach me further down the line once they've already committed to a venue or even most of their key suppliers. In order to fully reap the benefits of having a wedding planner on board, I should really be the first supplier you book.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

More often than not, couples regret not working with a planner from the very beginning of their planning process. It can transpire that they've either overspent, chosen the wrong venue or not considered a number of logistical points that can easily be missed if you're not aware of them.
