The Clitbait Cabaret is taking over Red Door after a SOLD OUT London debut!

Clitbait invites you all to their London return party: a showcase of women, femme and non-binary talent in the heart of our city. Expect a Cabaret night of inspiring poetry, original live music, DJ and dancing, in the beautiful environs of Red Door Artist Studios: East London's creative cavern of our cabaret dreams.

EXPLORING FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY

This year we are proposing to host three courses of film and photography workshops which aim to introduce technical and creative skills to our local community!

It is incredibly rare to find film and photography workshops for free which makes this industry inaccessible to a large majority of people.

We have taken care to respond to consultation carried out with our community and included as many different types of equipment and techniques as possible using both industry standard camera equipment and affordable/recycled equipment.

Our workshops will include introductions to:

- stop-motion animation
- digital filmmaking
- lighting and sound equipment
- video collage
- self-portraiture
- prop-making
- creating pin-hole cameras
- cyanotype printing
- using Polaroid and disposable cameras

We have been ambitious with our programme in order to introduce participants to skills that are applicable to paid opportunities as well as techniques which could be affordably replicated at home.

Following the workshops we will host an exhibition of the work and host a Q&A evening with people working within the film and photography industry. The purpose of this event will be to open up conversation within the community and for speakers to offer some insight, advice and resources to people who are interested in pursuing a career in this field.

Next Thursday from 4-7pm Pete will be running a pumpkin carving session!

A £2 donation would be appreciated so he can cover the cost of the pumpkins. If you’ll definitely be joining us do let us know so we can ensure we have enough pumpkins or feel free to bring your own.

Leftovers will be used in the soup for this month’s cafe! 🎃

Pete is a long-standing resident artist/DJ/caretaker and wizard at Red Door Studios! We are delighted to be showcasing his artwork in this month’s exhibition ‘Dragon’!

The exhibition is open TODAY 2-6pm and will be open every Tuesday and Thursday in October 🐲

We will also celebrate with an event this Sunday from 4-8pm with a talk from Pete at 6pm 🍻

Growing up in East Ham with the furnaces at Beckton Gasworks opening at night, Peter Wright was lulled to sleep as a child by the idea that it was the dragons coming out at night and turning the sky red, bathing his room in fiery light.

Ever since then his obsession has manifested in his work, exploring world myths and cultures surrounding dragons using an array of different mediums.

The exhibition will be open every Tuesday and Thursday in October from 2-6pm, starting from next Tuesday!

We will also host an evening event on Sunday the 8th of October. Pete will be doing a talk at 6pm at this event and we will have a workshop so that people can make artwork in response to his work!

We have now come to the end of our 'Waste Not Workshops' project with Newham London so we would love to share the artwork that has been made during the workshops!

On Sunday evening our doors will be open for you to have a look and grab a drink from 7-9pm :)

Tomorrow's 'Waste Not Workshop' will now be held at Red Door Studios rather than St. Bartholomews as we posted previously. The time will stay the same at 4-6pm :)

We apologise again for all of the recent changes to our workshops and we will be posting an updated schedule for the remaining 5 sessions.

Tomorrow's session will focus on re-using paper and card.

This session we will be focusing on fabric! This is a FREE experimental workshop designed for all ages and you can just show up at 3pm. Please feel free to bring any extra scrap material you have lying around the house.

This session we will be experimenting with WOOD! There is no booking required so please just show up at Red Door Studios at 3pm in order to take part.

This is a session for all ages although some of the tools we are using today mean it will be more limiting for children under 6.

Today we are experimenting with PLASTIC! Join us today at 3pm for our free 'Collage + Assemblage' workshop.
We will be using a range of simple techniques to manipulate and construct solely using plastic.

Hello everyone! Happy New Year!
Just a reminder that our FREE 'Collage + Assemblage' workshop is on this Sunday from 3-5.30pm
All ages welcome and you can just drop-in, no need to book :)

We are also open today from 1-3pm for waste drop offs. We are particularly in need of metal scraps, electronics and fabric!
So if you have anything lying around that would otherwise be wasted please pop it over, our doors will be open.
