On a rare night off from his busy tour schedule, The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson joined the Jim Jones All Stars for their Halloween Special at the Walthamstow Trades Hall last night for a blistering rendition of Little Richard’s Slippin’ and Slidin’.

Thanks to everyone who came down to the sold-out Jim Jones All Stars Halloween Special at the Walthamstow Trades Hall. Raw rock'n'roll and greasy R'n'B was dropped from a great height and to wonderfully devastating effect!

Great support from Chrome Mountain and a surprise guest appearance from the Black Crowes' Chris Robinson topped off a superb night! It all makes this morning's throbbing head worth it!

Support comes from Chrome Mountain with DJ sets from Andrew Perry (Totally Wired Radio / Mojo) and the Trades Hall’s Dean Brannagan playing soul stompers, rockin' ramalama and a whole lot more. There’s also a £30 drinks voucher for the sharpest dressed person, special Halloween cocktails and an afterparty until 1am. Tubes and buses are running all night.

While The Stow Festival remains dormant this year, we’re re-activating our series of ‘The Stow Festival presents…’ one-off shows. So we’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Jim Jones All Stars will be playing a Halloween Special at the Walthamstow Trades Hall on Saturday, 29th October in celebration of the release of their debut single, ‘It’s Your Voodoo Working’, which is released on 7th October.

The gig will be followed by an afterparty until 1am. The full line-up will be announced over the coming weeks.

The ability of thousands of workers in the live music sector to earn a living has been massively impacted by the current pandemic, which is why we're getting behind the campaign. The objectives are a clearly defined timeline for the re-opening of venues without social distancing, financial aid across the live music sector and a VAT exemption on ticket sales.

Please lend this your support, because if this goes belly up then the only thing to look forward to will be dancing in your living room and webcasts of acoustic versions of all your favourite songs. And we can’t be having that.

Well, yes, it’s been a while since we’ve posted anything here, so here goes… Walthamstow’s Ye Olde Rose & Crown Theatre Pub is more than just our local and second home; it’s a vital community hub. Their support of the Stow Festival was central to our success. Then there are the comedy nights, the theatre productions, the Folk Club and so many more events that they support.

It’s important that we don’t let this institution go. The team there have looked after us all over the years, so please - if you can - let’s look after them by making a donation here:

Just two days until Thee Hypnotics blow apart Mirth, Marvel & Maud!

Not only do we have a late license until 2am, but you’re all invited to the aftershow party. The band will be around to sign merchandise and supplying the best in rock’n’roll will be our DJs, Andrew Perry (Mojo/Intensive Care) and Julian Marszalek (The Quietus/The Olde Peculiar).

Don’t forget that tubes are running all night and there are plenty of regular night buses from Walthamstow Central, which is just two minutes walk away.

Back together again and ready to blow apart Mirth, Marvel & Maud, Thee Hypnotics’ third studio album, The Very Crystal Speed Machine, is finally set to be released in the UK as part of the Righteously Recharged vinyl boxset.

Here, singer Jim Jones, guitarist Ray Hanson, drummer Phil Smith and bassist Will Pepper give the low down on its fraught recording with The Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson and the ill-fated US tour that followed.

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that legendary garage-psych rockers Thee Hypnotics have reformed and will headline the next edition of The Stow Festival Presents… at Mirth, Marvel & Maud on Friday, April 13.

Featuring the classic line-up of co-founders Jim Jones (vocals) and Ray Hanson (guitar), with Phil Smith (drums) and Jeremy Cottingham (bass), this will be the band’s first London gig in 20 years. Harbouring an intense belief in assaultive rock’n’roll as liberation and delivering their sonic payload with a fervour bordering on the evangelical, this iconic group is back to testify one more time.

Support comes from former Spacemen 3 member Sterling Roswell. The gig will be followed by an aftershow party, DJs and a bar extension with a 2am curfew.

Our programme director Kat is taking her Walthamstow-based Electronic 17 brand to the legendary Ministry of Sound Club this Saturday night, joining Daisy Heartbreaker DJ as the guest for the launch of her Deep Love party. Kat has managed all our electronic music for the festival for the last four years as well as co-producing the BringBackTheBeat dance tent at the Barbican's Walthamstow Garden Party. She will no doubt bring her passion for electronic music to south London for this special event which will also be live streamed by Barcelona's Otv-1 on the night.
