Amanda was in early this morning having fun with hydrangeas and demonstrating that hearts are not just for Valentine's.

This dried hydrangea heart is a work of art, beautifully simple in design and lavish in presentation. The trouble is we're now all singing the song which in some instances is a bit of a mixed blessing. 🌈👠🦁

The Dahlias are back, defying the hitherto unmentionable weather with their very own brand of sunshine.

💐 This is where hand-tended garden roses, dahlias, wildflowers, herbs and foliage are grown. Full of natural charm, character and the vital ingredient – scent, responsibly grown with sustainable farming techniques and eco-initiatives.

💐 Certified under the Assured Combinable Crops Scheme, and part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme this 11 acre farm is a member of the Farm Wildlife Advisory Group.

💐 Enormous care is taken to contain soil structure and use minimal tillage to improve and maintain good nature, fertility and worm populations.

💐 The flowers are never sprayed when in flower which protects several varieties of bees and other insects which are feeding. Dotted about the paddock are hives which encourage these bees which, in turn help pollination. You can our buzzy friends having a lovely time in a previous reel.

The Real Flower Company is all about luxury bouquets created from exquisitely scented roses, English flowers, herbs and foliage grown on our own English and Fairtrade sustainable farm in Kenya.

A bit about our Kenyan Farm:

🌸 Located in beautiful Nanyuki, Kenya

🌸 Once the British growing season is over produce is harvested at our carbon-neutral sister farm, Tambuzi.

🌸 The farm is accredited at the highest levels in social and environmental standards employing a local community workforce of approximately 500 men and women who hand-pick the roses, herbs and foliage then prepare the stems for transport to the UK workshop.

🌸 Importing flowers from the Kenyan farm does not compromise commitment to sustainability. The optimal growing conditions in Kenya ensure a ready supply of natural heat and light.

🌸 Roses are flown in on commercial flights to ensure excess carbon is not emitted into the environment

💐: Featured is a trio of recycled glass vases complete with a bunch of freshly picked and sustainably grown scented roses and seasonal flowers ready to create a memorable display.

How we help to keep our farm sustainable 🐝 We have planted a hectare of red clover above the rose paddock, which provides a haven for bees. We also have hives dotted around the farm and continually take care to support and encourage the bee population. We use integrated pest-management techniques to ensure that the way we grow our flowers has a minimal impact – or where possible a positive impact – on the environment. We introduce and encourage beneficial insects such as lacewings, hoverflies and ladybirds. We have a meadow close to the rose paddock that helps us to attract a diverse insect population.
