We are thrilled to introduce Rosa Roberts, a remarkably talented artist whose vibrant works we have been fans of for a long time. Born in 1984, Rosa spent her early years on a fruit farm in Norfolk before moving to London during her teenage years. Her passion for art led her to study Fine Art at Central St Martin’s, a journey that has profoundly influenced her unique style and creative vision.

For eight years, Rosa ran a successful business designing and conducting drawing workshops in London museums. However, in 2020, she made the bold decision to pursue her true passion—painting—full-time. This leap of faith has allowed her to develop an extraordinary body of work characterized by bold gestural marks, rich jewel tones, and intricate textures.

Rosa’s creative process begins with observational sketching, whether at home, in her studio, or out in nature. These initial sketches undergo multiple iterations, evolving into the final compositions that captivate viewers with their complexity and beauty. Her travels, particularly a memorable trip to Bali before the lockdown, have greatly influenced her recent works. These pieces reflect her deep connection to the tropics, showcasing tropical motifs, lush plants, and a vibrant palette.

Texture plays a crucial role in Rosa’s paintings. She meticulously builds up her surfaces using cardboard and collage, creating a dynamic interplay between the layers and crevices that form the foundation of each piece. This dedication to texture, combined with her use of pattern and directional marks, imbues her work with a sense of life and movement.

🎨 Introducing Luke Hannam 🎨

We’re thrilled to working with the remarkable English painter, Luke Hannam at upcoming show ‘The Weight of Colour’ at Sarah Kravitz Gallery in Soho from 8-13 July.

Born in 1966 in Oxford and raised on the edge of the picturesque Peak District in Derbyshire, Hannam’s journey in art has been both diverse and inspiring.

His artistic path began at Chesterfield College in the early 1980s, where he honed his skills in life drawing and emulating the masters like Raphael and Michelangelo. Furthering his studies at Canterbury College of Art, Hannam was deeply influenced by his tutors Mali Morris RA, Stass Paraskos, and Rob Welch.

After graduating, Hannam moved to the North-East of England, where he balanced his passions for painting and music. Achieving musical success in the 1990s with bands ENC and GRAMME, he signed with Trevor Jackson’s influential Output Records. This period saw the fusion of post-punk, hip-hop, and dance cultures into his creative expression, mirrored in his dynamic and passionate approach to painting and bass playing.

In the early 2000s, Hannam shifted his focus back to painting. His unique style and dedication earned him representation from The Anima Mundi Gallery, leading to two major solo shows, “The Compass and Rosary” (2021) and “Gods Body and Devil Chains” (2023). His works have also graced the walls of the Saatchi Gallery and 8 Holland Street, further cementing his international acclaim.

Currently, Hannam is showcasing his art in Narrowsburg, New York, while simultaneously presenting “The Weight of Colour” in London. Always evolving, he continues to explore new ways to present his multifaceted themes and pathways.
