A c.1650 Dutch lady's gown made earlier this year for based on their portrait of a woman by De Jongh. Pair of covered stays/bodies and petticoat in wool satin, partlet, cuffs and kerchief in fine linen baptist with modern lace imitating 17th century lace.

Firebrand is finally out in cinema in the UK since last Friday!
Here are a couple of jerkins I stitched for Jude Law as Henry VIII, costume design Michael O'Connor. The red jerkin is currently on display in the RED exhibition at The School in London until 13th October.

Under the guidance of Jenny Tiramani.

The machine embroideries were outsourced to different makers in UK and Europe.

An oldie also displayed in "L'étoffe des Flamands" in Musées d'Angers , this reconstructed ensemble made in 2015, based on the outrageous 1660s French fashion. It was very much inspired by these two Dutch paintings in Musée du Louvre and MSK Gent , as well as the Verney suit in Claydon House, National Trust . It comprises a very ample shirt, a doublet, petticoat breeches (over tighter fitting under-breeches), a short cloak, a falling band with needle lace and of course a lot of ribbons...

A silvery silk gown with a fur collar for Jude Law as Henry VIII in Firebrand, costume design Michael O'Connor. Even though the ribbed fabric had no metal thread in it, it was so "bouncy" that it really did look like silver tissue.

Inside and outside view of the c.1640 bodice from the previous reel. Silk brocaded with lurex imitating silver, lined with silk satin and lightly b***d.

A couple of weeks ago, Firebrand was released (in France) starring Jude Law as Henry VIII.
We made several sets of clothes for him with my friends and colleagues at The School of Historical Dress, for costume designer Michael O'Connor. Amongst other things that I will post later on, I made this long gown in purple silk velvet lined with silk satin and fur.
