I also offer, beautifully elegant bespoke dresses, perfect for tests and practice. Dance and free skating skirts also available in floaty double-layer stretchy mesh or super light chiffon. I don't offer unstoned costumes. About Me
I’m Nicola Hobbs, creator of Sparkle Ice. I’ll work with you to create exactly the look you want; with each design reflecting the style of the music you’ll be skating to

and with all elements of your dance considered to make sure it works perfectly for you. I’m a skater myself; Sparkle Ice began with me making costumes for my fellow skaters at Queens Ice Rink in London. My background is in theatre costume design and textile artistry – I’ve got a degree in Theatre Design from Nottingham Trent University – and I’ve worked extensively making specialist character costumes for Rainbow Productions Ltd, which included working with a very wide range of fabrics and materials. All of this combines to give me a thorough understanding of skater’s costume requirements, and the ability to make you something truly special. I only use the best possible fabrics and stunning crystals. Having a costume that looks incredible and, most importantly, complements you as a skater, will help you feel confident and skate like a champion.

Mood board Monday! ❄️🌊🌪

Yes, before you check your phone to see if it’s really Monday, don’t worry, it’s definitely Thursday today - almost there, keep goiiiing! I just liked the alliteration of Mood-board Monday - it’s a thing.

Sometimes inspiration for a new design comes straight from my brain and explodes onto my iPad, other days it does a surprise announcement while I have a pile of fabrics on my cutting table.
Today’s inspiration ambush was the later.

Look how beeeeaauutiful these colours are together! A one-off ready to wear Luna in these colours is happening!

Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

Symmetry, symbolism, reflection, and contrast. Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of the Shakespearean Classic, Romeo + Juliet is a work of art, and a designers dream! The music is ICONIC, and I always thought I knew this film back to front, but as soon as I started to research the design for Abby’s dress I knew something magical was going to happen.

Division, religious iconography, flickering candles, flickering hope? Modernity, design that transcends fashion.

What an absolute pleasure to design for you, thank you for being so receptive to all my design ideas! 🙌

I have been designing bespoke figure skating costumes for 10 years now, and every time someone gets in touch to tell me that they felt proud of themselves for competing, achieved a goal, a personal best, or a medal, my heart literally fills with joy! I do a happy dance, no really, I do a happy dance!

From the moment that I have the music, throughout the design phase, and then the making, I am 100% invested in creating a unique piece of art that will help you achieve everything that you want to achieve on ice. I always pack up the costumes with a degree of sadness, a piece of my artistic soul goes into each of these costumes and so, whenever you send photos of my art in action my heart bursts with joy!

You may have heard of Black Friday? Well, I am launching, “SPARKLE SATURDAYS” 🌟😄

I’ll be offering 1 Stella dress on Sparkle Saturdays (and maybe Sundays 😄) at £100.00 (normally £160.00)

I haven’t officially launched Stella, so these dresses are preview dresses - and I’ll be making the dresses in discontinued colours while I perfect the patterns. You can buy the preview dress for £100.00 plus £8 p&p or if you like me to stone your preview Stella, I charge £70.00 per 500 crystals.
