Thank you Ms Amy Reyes for your wonderful services to the Filipjno Community.
Thank you and see you soon!
The Women’s Voice UK recently organised a small gathering to honour the Labour Attache Amy Reyes who will soon be concluding her tenure in the United Kingdom. The special event took place at the Farmers Club, situated in the heart of Whitehall, in close proximity to the Houses of Parliament.
This historic establishment, constructed in 1842, has been a central figure in agriculture since its inception, undergoing remarkable transformations to become a technologically advanced hub for rural communities today.
In the UK, farming plays a substantial role in the national economy by contributing to food, fuel, fiber, and raw material production, conserving the countryside, and safeguarding wildlife and rural heritage.
Similarly, Filipino labour employment overseas significantly contributes to the Philippine economy.
Despite the challenges of working abroad, Filipino workers and expatriates persevere to secure their families' futures.
The Philippine Department of Labour and Employment plays a crucial role in safeguarding the safety and welfare of Filipino citizens deployed overseas. As the Labour Attache in the UK, Amy Reyes has led her department in ensuring strict adherence to guidelines and parameters for hiring Filipino workers in the country.
Reflecting on the pandemic, she spoke of witnessing the spirit of nationhood among Filipinos. She expressed gratitude for the partnership with the embassy, in providing assistance, be it in kind or financial support, to Filipinos requiring repatriation or funeral assistance. Overcoming the challenges required community cooperation, and she extended her thanks to all involved.
Members of Women’s Voice conveyed their deepest appreciation to Amy Reyes, particularly two members who received her crucial support during employment difficulties. Amy Reyes’s leadership, support and assistance played a vital role in rescuing these members from challenging situations.
She recognised Women’s Voice for their dedication to fighting for women’s rights, equality and freedom.
Reflecting on her arrival in 2019, she highlighted the significant increase in demand for Filipino workers, reaching forty thousand manpower requests by the end of 2023 from various sectors, including healthcare and skilled services. This growth, she attributed to the trust employers place in Filipino workers for their adaptability, trainability, hardworking nature, good character, and genuine commitment to their roles.
On behalf of Women’s Voice, a heartfelt "maraming salamat" (thank you) to Labour Attache Amy Reyes for her service to the Filipinos in the UK.
The Women’s Voice UK and the community expressed gratitude and anticipation for future interactions.
Thank you, and see you soon.
