Since the doors opened in 1979, this unique venue has been entertaining children with resonant, engaging and exciting theatre. Over 100,000 children a year come to Polka and are inspired, stimulated and engaged by theatre, often for the first time. Polka strives to stir the emotions, spark the imagination and, most of all, entertain. Its two theatre spaces, the Main Theatre and the Adventure Theat

re are designed especially for children so that their first taste of theatre is welcoming and relevant. Opening Times:

Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 5pm
Saturday – Sunday: 9:30am – 5pm (excluding Bank Holidays)

The building is closed on Mondays. Box Office Opening times:

It's time for our Friday weekly round-up!

1. Half Term
We've had a fantastic Half Term so far. We've enjoyed two fantastic shows plus four specially themed workshops from making lanterns to spooky monster masks!

2. Polka Bake Off
Our team came together on Wednesday for our annual Bake Off competition. A massive congratulations to Daniella who won for her very tasty PEA and the Princess cake, complete with evil pea in the middle.

3. Soft or Spiky? is back
After a short break, the ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (Everything Theatre) Soft or Spiky? is back in our Adventure Theatre space from Wednesday 6 November! We dropped a new trailer for the show earlier this week, have you seen it?

4. A sneak peek at The Nutcracker
Our Young Voices members were able to get a sneak peek at The Nutcracker as well as offer their valuable opinions on the show while it’s in rehearsals. Only two weeks to go until first previews! 🤫

It's finally Friday 🥳

1. UK's Most Welcoming Theatre 2024
In case you missed it (unlikely as we haven’t stopped yapping about it), last Sunday we won the UK's Most Welcoming Theatre Award at the 2024 UK Theatre Awards!! We're still absolutely elated by the news, thank you to everyone who's sent their kind words this week.

2. New play equipment!
Our new play equipment in the Wimbledon Foundation Garden is officially open! A massive thanks to Wimbledon Foundation for their continued support and for joining us for the grand opening.

3. Soft or Spiky is open
Our new baby show with Half Moon Young People's Theatre is here! Check out some lovely new shots of the show in our recent post (📸 Steve Gregson).

4. Half Term at Polka
Can you believe its October Half Term already? If you're still looking for ways to keep your children busy then don't forget our offering of shows and workshops for all interests! Plus our play spaces will be open for everyone, no ticket required.
