✨ The RG Jones Team at the DiGiCo Quiz Night.

What a fantastic night raising funds for two essential industry charities and A massive shoutout to .official for hosting yet another incredible event. This renowned industry Quiz (hosted by Digico for many years) was brilliantly executed and a perfect opportunity to catch up with old familiars. The RG Jones Team ‘MADIrí Excepcional’ came a respectable sixth, setting the bar high for next year.

plays a crucial role in providing financial assistance to industry professionals facing serious illness or injury, helping them manage living costs and medical expenses. Anyone who has worked in the entertainment industry for at least five years can seek their support.

Meanwhile, (PSA’s benevolent fund) has been a pillar of support for members and their families during tough times for nearly two decades, assisting those unable to work through no fault of their own and are dedicated to enhancing mental health support within our industry .. offering subsidised Mental Health First Aid training to key touring professionals.

Swipe left for a glimpse of the best-dressed lady in the house - Tim Saxton, (Digico’s Technical Sales Manager) mixing it up in a cheeky ‘crop top and RA-RA’ ensemble complete with hat!

A memorable event for a lifesaving cause.

🌍💚 World Mental Health Day 💚🌍

Being a part of this industry is exciting, but can also present challenges.

Take a moment to reflect on mental health and the power of connection. Open conversations can make a huge difference—remember, you’re not alone. Together, we can foster a culture of understanding and support.

Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, and David Bowie 🎸🎶

Just a handful of legendary names that passed through the RG Jones Studio, driven by Ronald’s in-house label “OAK Records.”

On 20th April 1963, The Rolling Stones visited the studio to record Bo Diddley’s “Pretty Thing” and “It’s Alright Babe” for a film their manager, Giorgio Gomelski, was working on. Unfortunately, neither the film nor the recordings have ever surfaced.

In February 1964, The Yardbirds cut “Baby What’s Wrong,” “Honey In Your Hips,” “Boom Boom,” and “Talking About You.” Also, a rare 7” OAK acetate contains two unreleased David Bowie recordings from 1966, “Silly Boy Blue” and “That’s A Promise” (credited to Bowie and Buzz).

Whilst other contemporaries often worked only with acetate and reel-to-reel tape, Ronald (RG Jones) ran OAK Records as a small private label, producing limited edition acetates, EPs, and LPs. OAK acetates were made in very limited quantities, typically one for the band and one for the manager. Pic 3 captured Ronald Jones ‘cutting’ at the studios in Morden.

The Salon Quarter Stage - aka the petite, but popular, Garden Stage. This year it was completely revamped from top to bottom with an all stunning new white triple layer stage. Visible technical infrastructure must be kept to a minimum, so a sound image was designed to develop around the audience with the clever use of discreet speaker positioning to fill the area with an ambient sound.

🎶 Opening night… 🎭

Swapping wellies for wonderlands.

From Glastonbury dust to sparkles… equipment has been cleaned and polished, and tonight our MLA floats on Henley Festival’s iconic main stage.

Henley Festival is glamour personified; a boutique black-tie event, taking place over five days and celebrating the best of UK and International music and arts. Established over 40 years ago as a classical music charity event, the festival continues to run as a non-profit organisation, supporting charitable projects at both a national and local level. 2024 marks the third year of RISE by Henley Festival, supporting talented performers, artists, and creative professionals who want to pursue a career in the arts industries - in front of the spotlight and behind the scenes. RISE gives opportunities to up-and-coming musicians and visual artists to take their first steps into a notoriously difficult industry and supports the backstage staff of the future by giving them paid work experience working hands-on with leading lighting and sound companies, marketing and PR.

Set on the banks of the River Thames, the site is transformed into a magical wonderland. Henley is intoxicating, with multiple themed stages across the site, transporting you into different worlds. Between the magical stages, the festival showcases contemporary art installations and sculptures with works by leading photographers and painters in a series of pop-up galleries. There is even a fairground and pop-up restaurants cater to all tastes.

RG Jones have proudly provided sound across Henley Festival for over 40 years.
