Gratitude is my word for the year 2026.

2025 has been our best year yet in business, especially on the corporate side. With growth comes the temptation to let the smaller, familiar jobs feel like a grind, but that’s my cue to reset.

Our regular no-money casino nights and fortnightly poker games are the bread and butter. Remembering that keeps everything in perspective.

My favourite part of the Aces High teambuilding event is the deep thinking and negotiating segment. Each team listens intently during the calling, betting, and folding, working together to help the best hand win. What’s remarkable is that even participants who’ve never played poker before can read each other’s ranges simply through genuine, attentive listening. It’s a powerful reminder that communication isn’t just about speaking, it’s about truly understanding one another. Ironically, I never listened this deeply when I played for a living; back then, I was too focused on making the rent.
