Module 2: Sales and Marketing
A few weeks ago, we welcomed our 2024 mentees for an immersive, hands-on day with our Marketing Director, Abby Squire, and Head of Sales, Paige Norman. The day provided an insider’s view into the fast-paced world of sales and marketing within the catering industry, offering practical insights and skills tailored to our unique field.
Our mentees explored a wide range of marketing techniques, from traditional methods to digital channels, gaining a deep understanding of how to reach and engage audiences in a catering context. They learned the art of building strong client relationships, essential in our industry, and got an in-depth look at the sales process—everything from creating mood boards and styling visuals to crafting a winning pitch that resonates with clients. The day continued with hands-on menu creation in Canva, allowing them to consider aesthetics, branding, and layout with the client in mind.
Adding an exciting creative element, the mentees also tried their hand at content creation, learning how to film and edit materials that highlight our culinary offerings. This blend of creativity and practical skills gave them a taste of how our sales and marketing teams bring ideas to life, connecting with clients in a way that feels authentic and engaging.
It was a fantastic day of learning, energy, and insight into the diverse, creative world of catering sales and marketing!
Royal Museums Greenwich
It was an honour to partner with Royal Museums Greenwich to deliver an incredible showcase at the iconic Cutty Sark, presenting this venue at its finest. Reflecting on the event, we’re reminded of the rich diversity within the entire RMG portfolio and the unforgettable experiences we’ve had the privilege to host in these historic settings.
From the Royal Observatory, where ‘time begins’, to the legendary Cutty Sark, famed for bringing tea to Britain at record speed, and the National Maritime Museum, which houses epic tales of exploration that have shaped the world. And, of course, there’s the beautiful Queen’s House—the heart of Greenwich for centuries and a pivotal centre of royal life. Each of these venues offers a unique blend of history and heritage.

Moving Venue Catering Academy
The Moving Venue Catering Academy kicked off in true style at the Attitude Awards!
Our mentees spent the evening with Managing Director, Chloe Jackson and Deputy Managing Director, Ben Tobin-Paris, who introduced them to the fundamentals of catering while enjoying the awards and a three-course dinner served by our team. We’ve been honoured to cater the Attitude Awards since 2017, and this year, our generous client graciously allowed us to host the Academy at the event.
Coming from the venue side of the business, our mentees had the unique opportunity to experience the inner workings of a different venue. They gained insight into the intricacies of catering for a large and high profile awards dinner, and a broader understanding of what they can expect to learn in the Academy over the coming months.
The 2024 Attitude Awards celebrated prominent LGBTQ+ figures and allies at London’s Roundhouse, with highlights including Elton John receiving the Legacy Award, presented by Ed Sheeran, along with performances by Nemo and Matt Henry. Other award recipients included Vanessa Williams, Mawaan Rizwan, and Lulu, with powerful speeches and standout fashion moments—such as India Willoughby’s advocacy for trans rights. The night concluded with Kathy Sledge’s performance of “We Are Family.”
What an incredible night it was—our mentees were truly inspired by the presence of legends! #attitudeawards2024
