Welcome to Traitors: The Party Event. Prepare for a night to remember!
This event is all about fun in a way you have never experienced before. It will create a memorable bonding experience among the group you play it with, and will give you stories to tell for years to come.
The event is essentially a game, and the game is all about using your detective skills if you are nominated as an innocent, or your deception skills if you are nominated a traitor. Your host won't just leave that to chance. We will carefully choose the traitors based on a short interview at the start of the event. So...let's get into it! Below, I shall explain how the event will run, the costs, and other information you may need.
THE EVENT:
The event will begin with a performative introduction from the host, who will set the scene, explain the rules of the game, and make it clear how the game will be won as either an innocent or a traitor. If you are a traitor, your goal is to get right to the end without being discovered, if you are an innocent, your goal is discover all traitors and vote them out by the end of the game. (In a group of 8 players there will be 2 traitors, in a group of 10+ players there will be 3 traitors.)
PHASE 1:
You will each privately speak with the host for one minute, who will ask you three questions to determine your suitability as either an innocent or a traitor. You will be told not to discuss the questions you were asked by the host, or your responses.
PHASE 2:
The host will now decide who the traitors will be. You will all sit in a circle on chairs and be given blindfolds to wear. The host will walk around the circle and will tap the shoulder of those who will be traitors. It will be explained how important it is for the traitors to remain calm when chosen, and throughout the game. Now the game is set, it is time to face the challenges.
Note: Each challenge that is successfully passed will give the innocents an opportunity to cast a vote at the end of it on who they think the traitor is. If you don't pass the challenges, you get no vote and the traitors move closer to victory.
Traitors, this will be your opportunity to subtly sabotage the challenges, if you feel so brave enough to do so. The person who receives the most votes must reveal themselves as either a traitor or an innocent. If they are an innocent, they will be able to continue in the challenges but will no longer be able to cast a vote. If they are a traitor, they are automatically converted and now become an innocent but also do not get to vote. If players do not complete challenges and get to vote, they will be given time to discuss who they think it may be instead.
CHALLENGE 1 - HUM THE TUNE:
The players will be waiting in a room, while the host will vacate to a different room. You will have one minute for every player to complete the challenge. Players will take it in turns to run to where the host is. The host will hum that player a well known tune. The player must then run back and repeat that tune to the group. The other players must guess the name of the tune, and once they have an answer the next player must run back and give the answer. That player will then be given a new tune, and so on and so forth. If six tunes are correctly guessed within the time limit the challenge is complete.
CHALLENGE 2 - CHARADES:
Players must discuss and decide which five players in the team will act out a charade. The acting player will then take a piece of paper from the hosts hat at random and must act out what is says. The whole group will then try to guess. The player may not speak. If they do, they are disqualified and another player must be chosen. Players have 15 minutes to guess five charades correctly.
CHALLENGE 3 - HOT SEAT:
Each player must now face the dreaded hot seat. Once you are sat in the hot seat players may ask you up to three questions which you must to answer in at least three words. Once a question is asked, it is responded to and then we move on to the next question. Examples of questions include: Are you a traitor? Are you lying? I felt you tried to sabotage the last challenge? Why do you look nervous? Are you an innocent?
CHALLENGE 4 - THE HUNT:
In the final challenge, you will be split into two roles within the team which you can choose based on your skills. Role one will be the guessers. Guessers must read riddles that will be given to them by the host. The riddles will point them towards a certain item and its location. Once the guessers have figured out the riddle they must run to an area where the hunters (role two) will be waiting. The guesser will pass on information on both where to look, and what to look for, and the hunters will spread out to try and find that item.
Once the hunter has found it they must return it to a guesser who will then return it to the host. The host will then either accept the item or reject it, because it is wrong. There are three items to find and you have 15 minutes to do so. If you win this challenge you can nominate one player who gets two votes in the final votes.
FINAL VOTE:
The time has come to find out who the traitors are. Everyone must vote for one person who they think is a traitor. The person with the most votes is then revealed as an innocent or a traitor. If the person is an innocent then the game is over and if there are any traitors left undiscovered, then the traitors win. If a traitor is voted out and there is still a traitor remaining, then the group can vote again.
That concludes the event and prizes are handed out accordingly. All that is left to do is take a group picture and talk about all the fun you have just had!
