SUNFLOWER REVIVAL : bringing vibrant colour back to these dried sunflower heads using a mix of hand-painted and dyed flowers, foliage, grasses and seed heads.
Rich yellows, sulphur and citrine tones invigorate a more neutral colour palette - incorporating sunflowers, craspedia, poppy heads, eucalyptus, mini pampas and fan palms.

‘FLAMING JUNE’ : Having received a brief to provide table centrepieces for a formal dining event, with a barbecue theme - I took inspiration from the barbecue itself as well as typically griddled vegetables and aromatic herbs.

Using a ‘recipe’ of flowers and foliage to emulate the flames, glowing charcoal and smoking embers of the barbecue... where hot red, orange and yellow tones of tropical flower forms mimic the barbecue flames and foliage forms emulate billowing smoke.

A selection of skewered, seasonal vegetables and sprigs of marinating herbs were incorporated as highlights to represent the ‘ingredients’ used when hosting a summer barbecue.

FLOWERHOUSE @ SOANE’S HOUSE : a fantastic, recent, extraordinary visit to the Sir John Soane's Museum at 13 Lincoln’s Inn Fields London WC2.
The building remains largely unchanged since his death in 1837... and displays a cornucopia of his vast collection of antiquities, furniture, paintings, sculptures and architectural models. - [Soane also ‘embellished’ Aynhoe Park at the beginning of the 19th century - see post dated 24th March 2024]

‘GARDENING GIVERNY’ - a recent uplifting and colourful exhibition at the Garden Museum.
JEAN-MARIE TOULGOUAT - the great-grandson of Claude Monet was involved in the restoration of Monet’s gardens at Giverny during the 1970’s.
Developing his own vibrant painting style he captured the gardens from an alternative perspective to that of the great master of Impressionist decades before.

I ❤️ PEONIES : Peony season is here - my favourite... I love these ‘blousy’ flowers. From the tight ‘golf ball’ like buds, to the fully open flower heads reminiscent of giant sweet meringues... Nature is amazing...!!!

MAGGIE MAY - [well almost... it will be on Wednesday..!!] : Despite the weather yesterday, it was great so visit the beautiful building and gardens of Maggie's London, open as part of the National Garden Scheme London.
I’ve heard so much about this wonderful space and all the good work the charity does.
Great to see first hand the Stirling prize winning building and in particular the garden, originally design by Dan Pearson, offering peaceful and therapeutic spaces, now well established after 16 years.

FLOWERHOUSE | FLOWERHOME : For those that haven’t visited mr.co.flowerhouse - we are located at - 7 Cleeve Workshops Boundary Street E2.
One of a row of 16 quaint Victorian workshops built between 1895-8 to a design by Reginald Minton Taylor of London County Council, part of the Boundary Estate and which today remain relatively unchanged.
Originally used as workshops for specialist, artisan crafters in the late 1800’s... today they are home to a community of likeminded companies who care about their crafts and their community.
Now grade II listed, the single story workshops are nestled in the courtyard yard behind Cleeve House on Calvert Avenue, in the heart of bustling Shoreditch.
130 years of history and still an integral part of the pioneering Boundary Street Estate.
Come visit...!!!

COILED SPRING : A contemporary, seasonal wreath alternative - celebrating the impending arrival of Spring... Twisted kiwi vine entwined with ivy, seasonal flowering twigs, eucalyptus, hellebore flowers, genista and wax flower [chamelaucium].
Miniature narcissi bulbs, wrapped in their own little woolly ‘jackets’ nestle amongst reindeer moss and lichen.

EXTRACTS FROM ESTORICK : A wonderful exhibition of Pasquarosa Marcelli’s work.
The Estorick Collection is a little known gallery dedicated to modern Italian art, located in Canonbury N1.
Pasquarosa Marcelli, also little known, is an artist with no formal training who started to paint after working as an artist’s model in Rome... where she met the painter Nino Bertoletti, who she later married.

Pasquarosa - ‘From Muse to Painter’ runs until 28th April 2024.
