PATRICK DAVID BEGENT – Creator of the Intrepid Fox ( Alternative Bar ). 10th October 1965 to 25th February 2024
We missed the man – we celebrated what he loved, what he achieved and the relationships he formed and enabled others to form – because without what he did a lot of us wouldn’t be who we are today.
I intended to post this as soon as possible but after last Saturday so much was still to be done (a little still is) but after so many photos, videos and tags I thought I shouldn’t wait any longer.
As announced we raised an incredible £2,1+ k for Pat’s favourite charity – Homeless Action in Barnet , we are calculating the profits from the few t shirts left over (sorry sold out now), we didn’t want to do a crowdfunder but if you still want to donate in memory of Pat then you have a few days to PayPal me at : [email protected] (friends and family so we both are not charged for the transaction).
We are happy to provide a full breakdown of all finance to anyone who asks . Very pleased to say that all the performers were keen to work for free – thank you from the heart for your kindness, dedication, talent and awesome performances and kind words and memories . Generation Graveyard, Maximillian Harper , Phil Roadkill, dean , Tom Hunt, Chris Parker, Flash Sawyer, Niro Knox , Sky London , Lee Benz , Alice Dionis, Bones McCoy, Paul Annis , David Ryder Prangley , Santiago Periotti Chris Nettleton , Mab , Gramma Vedetta , Rachel Stamp
It was hard work putting this together , even with my many years of putting on shows (I have a new found respect for those who form cover band nights – its absolutely taxing trying to pull it together). But we did it – and so did every person who attended , messaged, bought merch, and contributed to celebrating the Life & Legacy of our boy Pat. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I have left the actual review of the event to the lovely Sheri Bicheno (see below) who’s writing really captures the essence of the night – Thank you for your touching words – you really catch the magic of this occasion = Pat would have been so proud / embarrassed / enthralled with the whole thing – he definitely got the send off he deserved.
I know I’m gonna miss tons of names but sending love to you all – including those who genuinely made the trip just to show love and respect to Pat grech Sisi Pisu , Joel Hogan, Silviauk Silvia , @ David L Peché, Chris Furphy, Amanda Bowen, Vincent Ridgeon , Twiggy Harris , Beverly Nettleton , Jeanette Karlsson Sawyer , Anton Rossi . Pete Valente , Stef Metalworks , Liza Minnelli , Tony Bennett and so many more . Also a huge round of applause for our dj’s who did an incredible job recreating the Fox vibe. Cheers Steve Cox, Alan Hicks, Darren Law, James Frazer & Ays Kura.
As I said – we missed a few close friends but drank to you and Pat in your honour Paul Shuff, Daniel Kjölsrud Malena Carbonell Albors and Joizy -also thanking Steve Vincent , Lee Bennett and everyone else who emailed but sadly couldn’t get there – Patly knew you were there in sprit.
A huge thanks also to Martin Brown .Billy and Rachel from the Asylum Fellowship who were our mecrh team – outstanding job, thank you so much (and an extra shout out to King Lizard who donated a pile of cd’s tp raise more money).
Mssive thanks to Pats sister Sue Begent who flew over from the USA for the event (and has some further plans to honour her brother – more news later)
In all it was a huge chaotic party – just how we like it (so much so that plans are under way for some more – with many new relationships and ideas bubbling in the pot – watch this space). We didn’t forget the fireworks Paul Shuff , that will be your job later on 😊 x
THANK YOU SO VERY FKIN MUCH for coming out to show your love for this awesome man – we will keep his memory alive – his vision built up and nurtured the scene we now are a part of. He of course would deny everything – hence the title “It’s Not My Fault”.
From all of us to all of you – let’s always be the hero’s we are and remember the hero’s that put us here .
Raise a glass with me – To Pat and “The Fox”. Rock n Fkn Roll !!!
Cheers 😊
p.s : I left this til last as it deserves its own space. Max was Pat’s wingman through thick and thin – when I couldnt talk to Pat , Max would pass the message – continuously through Pat’s ups n down. A week before we lost Pat , Max and I were planning to recreate the Fox in a club setting and Admiral Pat was beaming with the prospect. This is all thanks to Max as was the pulling together of this tribute– I have so much love and respect for you Brother - Always have - always will 😊💜
By Sheri Bicheno Sometimes, it's challenging to find the right words that will do justice for a narrative of a series of events, people, places and parts of life... So my aim is to cast some of my insight into the celebration of life of a man we all respected. The Intrepid Fox whether at Wardour Str...
