As I dropped some money into the tin I couldn’t help but smile and ever since, this phrase has been one of my mottos. Smiling is infectious!

How it all started!

In 2015, after 12 years working in the fast-pacing world of change management consulting, I found myself at a crossroads.

Ever since I was a child, I’d been captivated by how people navigate life’s defining moments.

Though I had studied religion and trained as a minister, my true dream was creating ceremonies and rituals for people of all beliefs - or none at all.

One day, as I sat on the sofa, I started googling and discovered something extraordinary: being a celebrant was an actual career!

As if the universe was listening, fate stepped in. Our friends, Rosalie and Barry, unaware of my aspirations, asked me to officiate their wedding in France later that year. “We think you’d be perfect!” they said.

Fast forward to that September, and there I was, leading my very first wedding ceremony.

It was everything I’d imagined—a joyous blend of Rosalie and Barry’s Catholic, Jewish, Dutch, and English traditions, celebrated under the whimsical charm of a carousel. It wasn’t just about their love; it was a beautiful moment of unity for their family and friends.

Since that wonderful day, I’ve had the honor of conducting countless weddings (and funeral services, more about these here: ).

Each ceremony has been unique, deeply personal, and filled with meaning, bringing people together in ways that truly matter.

If you’re in the northern hemisphere, I hope you’re keeping warm this winter! Just stumbled upon this gorgeous photo by which made me feel cosy and happy all over.

As it’s been a while I just wanted to say 👋🏽 to you all! Thanks for being here x

I’m Rosalie, award-winning celebrant based in London but traveling to wherever couples take me on their wedding adventures. One of the perks of this job is that my ‘office’ can be anywhere - and I have been to spectacular places!

Some of my fave locations are an art pavilion in Somerset, a boat on the Thames, a rose garden in Morocco, an island in the Atlantic, a carousel in France and a willow tree in a private garden.

I also conduct funerals (check out ) and am passionate about creating beautiful and life-affirming funeral ceremonies.

I enjoy working with couples of all backgrounds, beliefs and identities who value style, creativity and unconventional ways to celebrate their love.

I’ve found my niche in modern fusion weddings where I help couples ‘fuse’ their different worlds into one unique love.

Some fun facts about me:

💫 I am Dutch but have been living in London for nearly 12 years. I love this vibrant, cosmopolitan city as well as the enchanting British countryside, but also miss the cozy craziness of Amsterdam (as well as drop, haring and bitterballen!).

💫 I’m married to Ron, the man with the sexiest eyes on the planet. We share the house with two teenage kids, two cats and four quails.

💫 I was born in the seventies but would love to wake up one day as a flapper in the 1920s. Totally love the style of that era!

💫 My favourite treats are craft cocktails, indie beer, salted caramel ice-cream and rose petal tea.

💫 I’m left handed but play football with my right foot (not that I play football, I’d rather swim, or hike)

💫 I usually wear pre-loved items. The vintage hat in this photo is a charity shop find and the coat is borrowed from my son!

One of the fabulous things of working with a celebrant is that you can incorporate religious and spiritual touches whilst putting your story at the heart of the wedding ceremony.

This was exactly what James and Philip were hoping for when they asked me to be their celebrant. Together we crafted a beautiful wedding ceremony that reflected their values, ethics and beliefs, as well as celebrating their love and relationship.

We incorporated a bible reading, a secular poem and a spiritual blessing as well as a quote by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, one of Philip’s favourite authors:

“You may only be one person in this world,
but for someone you’re the world.”

King Charles chose the stunning for his Christmas message. An excellent choice! The former chapel of Middlesex Hospital, this gem in Central London is now a deconsecrated place used for community and cultural events and private occasions such as weddings.

I’ve had the honour to lead quite a few ceremonies here and the chapel never ceases to awe me (and the couples, and their guests!) with its tranquil and serene atmosphere, its evocative design and mesmerising golden glows.

Just finalised my last draft wedding script of the year - a wonderful present for under this couple’s tree! 🎄✨

Writing ceremonies is so much fun, and as I create every script from scratch it’s an exciting adventure to see how the words, ideas, themes, the couple’s story, symbolic rituals and readings come together in a truly personalised way.

It’s also a bit daunting as I hope to find the right tone and approach for each wedding, aiming to give every couple a unique and unforgettable experience.

Starting the weekend with a smile! 😀

Julia and Nathan’s ceremony was such a delight to conduct. They’d added lots of personal and special touches, including a handfasting ritual with help from two nephews, personalised vows and the signing of a bespoke certificate. The bilingual element 🇩🇪 🇬🇧 made that everyone felt included.

I create warm, truthful and sensitive ceremonies with a cosmopolitan touch. By carefully listening to your personal story, your ideas for the day and your views on life, love and death, I create and deliver unique and memorable ceremonies for any life-event.

When I work with a couple on their wedding ceremony I take them on a journey, identifying what makes their relationship meaningful, what makes their love unique, and what it means for them to get married. This typically results in a warm, moving and heartfelt event, with room for both laughter and tears. I work closely with wedding planners, photographers, venue managers and other suppliers on the day to ensure a smooth and relaxed ceremony.

In addition to wedding ceremonies I do baby-namings, renewal-of-vows, funerals and any other tailor-made rituals for everyone who wishes to mark a transition in their life. In June 2018 I even conducted a ceremony for a building!
