When M&A married a few weeks ago , they wrote on my questionnaire Mia’s dress designer and I was excited straight away!
I LOVE finding out gowns, floral designers, planners and stylists etc
I always ask for the suppliers on my wedding day questionnaire, as it’s so helpful to get a vibe for the day, but also super handy to pre-empt who might contact me post-wedding asking for permission to use images on socials 🧡

Mia chose Hermione De Paula as she adores flowers, and she’s a tattoo artist who creates pretty illustrations, so she appreciates the hard work which goes into an embroidered gown 🧡

I cannot believe it has taken me a year to be able to catch up on my personal projects!
I tried so hard on ‘days off’ or evenings off to edit personal projects, and just super struggled to find guilt free time… but! Hurrah, I am finally seeing a light beyond the pandemic tunnel haha.
I have one job from 2022 to finish (don’t worry, not a primary wedding role! I’m not that terrible!), and then, I am actually and finally up to date!

This shoot was on such a hot day in Athen, Greece. We were all melting!

I just responded to ’s amazing Skye wedding moaning… I want more elopements, they’re so magical… then realised, how can I book more, if I’m not showing you guys elopements I’ve already done!!

I’ve actually included a two locations in this carousel…. Jess & Justin eloped in the Faroes! They did true elopement style, with just them, and no one knew!
On the day of the elopement, their wedding papers were sent, and it truly was beautiful (even in true Faroese weather, fog!).
I have also included a couple Skye images, I loved this trip a small while back.
Both are captured during ‘high summer’ haha… July and August!

K&P at their stunning Château wedding in France this month!
They married at which is the loveliest intimate chateau, perfect for their party of 80 ish!
So many of their loved ones travelled from around the world to be there, including Kate’s 99 year old grandad, who came over from Ireland! 🧡
K&P live in Sydney, Aus (yes, I adopted my accent as soon as I spoke with their Aussie friends 😂), so everyone made the big jet plane trip over!

I’m back!
I kind of had a tech break (unintentionally) the last week!
I had a wedding in France on Saturday (and captured some candids the eve before, and afternoon after, it was such a lovely celebration!)… as I rocked up to Stansted on Wednesday 31st, I suddenly realised I had left my laptop in it’s bag on my desk!!
It completely scuppered my editing plans (so sorry A&J), and also meant I couldn’t do my normally admin catch ups (it also made me feel too exposed to how unsettled I felt in my old French AirBnb with no distractions 😂 so, I actually ended up booking a different place, and switching Sunday evening).
So, I managed to send some more ‘urgent’ reminders last Friday, but yesterday and today I have been trying to catch up with my inbox and editing (editing all day today after lunch).
So, if you’re waiting on anything, I’m trying to catch up now 😀
I have tomorrow ‘off’ as it’s one of my faves’ (I am not allowed to mention their age ha!) birthday celebration, and then Monday-Thursday I will be in Cornwall doing couple shoots and exploring with Agnes 😍
Super exciting week ahead!
So, head down today, let’s get this done 💪

Why I’m a wedding photographer…
My ‘job’ came about like so many of us wedding photographers, by accident!
A happy ‘accident’!
I didn’t study photography at college or Uni, as there wasn’t really any photo courses when I was 18! And, it was all still film, with a barrier into an ‘affordable’ career choice. I did do film and processing within a fashion course though.
Instead, I did contemporary theatre and performance 😂 so very accessible haha.
At 26, I quit my job at Brora as a retail manager, and I went travelling. I took with me my first armature dslr, and with it set to auto, I travelled and photographed along the way in Tampa, Peru, Bolivia, Chili, NZ and Fiji.
So, when I returned to the UK a short time later, a friend asked me to take some pictures at her first daughters naming day. It was nice to hide behind the camera, take photos, and then deliver these as memories.
Which , led to Lisa, Reagan’s best friend asking me to photograph her wedding!
I was scared, and excited. I borrowed my friend Katie’s professional camera, and captured the day! I’m still proud of those images. From there Bonnie, Reagan’s cousin asked me to captured her wedding, and Lisa’s brother booked me. It was capturing my friends Charlie & Yukari’s wedding in New Zealand that made me realise I could do this as a job full time.
I’m now 5 years full time, and love being a small part of a celebration each week! Each year I also capture a few loved ones weddings, and that brings it all back home to why I love my job!

Ooof I’m tired and ache! Yesterday was a long day, but super fun, and the dancefloor was 🔥
I’ll be having a day off (mostly! I will maybe reply to some simpler emails later)… I need to do the grown up thing of re-potting my plants asap, as it’s already a bit late in the season, and today is lovely weather 🪴

A few images from this weekends decor!
Whilst everyone else was watching the coronation, I stuck crowns for haha!

Often the role of a photographer stretches to agony aunt, coordinator and general dogs body… I love being able to help anywhere I can, if it means other people are feeling calmer.
This event didn’t necessarily ‘need’ me, but because of some big names in attendance, I know the team were keen to ensure everything was super perfect, and I was happy to help before the marquee was photo ready!

The King’s Coronation today brought back all the memories of Katie and Shomari’s wedding at Westminster Abbey in the autumn.
Walking through the tall ceilings of Westminster is something truly mesmerising! I wish I could have spent more time soaking up the view, but my job means I’m always on high alert to capture a couples experience.
Not everyone can marry at Westminster, so it really is an honour to capture one of the few that take place here.
It was something very historic and humbling to walk these footsteps between a historic funeral and coronation within a short period of time.

Katie and I have known each other for many years! I first hired her sister Sarah when I worked in Brora (feels like so long ago now!), and then Katie came to join our team 🧡
Sarah married in 2021, and Katie 2022, it’s been so magical to watch them both marry! 💫 I have a special ‘job’

Can’t tell you how frustrated I am… I just spent 20 minutes writing a post, for it to vanish.
So, this will be simpler, and maybe I will rewrite when I have time.

Recognise Burnout, and don’t let it consume you like I did. My burnout was a consequence of 🦠 fatigued, and over delivering to couples in 2021-22 (I felt I needed to give more of my time on wedding days, more previews, more gallery images… all to make up for my late delivery times, which became a double edged sword).
This all led to:
-Feeling tired or drained most of the time
-Feeling helpless, trapped and/or defeated
-Feeling detached/alone in the world
-Having a cynical/negative outlook
-Self-doubt
-Procrastinating and taking longer to get things done
-Feeling overwhelmed

I LOVED being a part of every wedding, and sharing the day with all my amazing couples. But, I also recognise now that I over did it, and even now ache a lot, and feel tired etc… I’m still burnt out.
So, it’s more a post to just say, I appreciated many of your patience, the kindness I was shown, and the love shared. It’s a hard job, and one which probably takes me longer than most photographers. I work long hours, and find it impossible to switch off! I do it all for my love of art, humans and love.
I’m looking forward to an almost empty August (one wedding!) and cannot wait to explore some more of Scotland (it seems to have become a bit of a retreat for me).
2022, you were a handful… but, to 2023 which ‘officially’ kicked off this weekend, albeit, I have already celebrated 3 weddings with you wonderful folk!

Editorial - Morocco

So... I am ashamed to say, that sometimes personal projects go on the back burner until my mind is uncluttered!
So, I did this shoot in October 2019!!
It was so long ago, but genuinely only feels like last October.
The previous image on my grid is of all the amazing photographers on the portfolio builder with me.

So, when I jumped on my to Marrakesh, I only had had 2 days notice, as someone couldn’t make it (thank you rosie!) and was excited but completely oblivious to what to expect, so of course I had zero expectations... I LOVED Marrakesh, and would love to go back some time!

Apologies for travel posts... I know we can’t travel at the moment, and it pulls the heart strings, but I just think it’s so nice to reflect on the best times 🧡
