It’s a squash love affair, a beautiful Red Kuri, the first of the season from my step-mums allotment.

Feeling very lucky to have visited another beautiful vegetable garden this summer just as the seasons start to change. Still abundant with tomatoes, fennel, celery & flowers.

I’ve never seen a walled garden so pristine & organised! But considering it was one of the gardens that inspired Beatrix Potter…it makes a lot of sense.

Locked by gate & key at night! And covered with netting to protect from birds.

If you’re ever visiting the Lake District, be sure to stop here for lunch, they use all the produce from the walled garden & have a bakery on site.

It’s the season and the hype is real thanks to Corn Kid over on

There truly isn’t anything better than that sweet sweet corn with some added grease…please go watch this video if you haven’t seen it. It will bring you pure joy.

I made a version of the Mexican street food Elote! Simply mix mayonnaise with smoked paprika, chill flakes & lime zest. Brush your griddled corn then cover with a generous amount of Parmesan, more chilli flakes, limes juice & flaked sea salt. So easy and takes corn to a whole new level of delicious.

It’s peak season right now in the UK, so get it whilst you can.

Chicken Dinner 🍽

Lemon & garlic roasted chicken, pink fir potatoes & cavolo nero from my step-mums bountiful allotment, two for £1 British corn from Dalston market 🌽 the best thing I’ve got for a quid in a long-time SO sweeeeet.

Went down to Forty Hall community farm, wondered through the poly tunnels full of ripening tomatoes , insane aubergines and spikey cucumbers. Then bought a mixed variety of apples from the shop, excited to try them all and make a classic layered apple pie.

British asparagus season is coming to an end, usually ending at Summer Solstice which was the 21st June! If you’re able to get your hands on any, simple griddle, season well, drizzle with good olive oil (in this case the insanely delicious ) a grating of Parmesan & a squeeze of lemon juice. I’ve added a few broken soft boiled quails eggs to be extra but it’s good with and without!

This also works well with griddled courgette, tenderstem or green beans!

Stacked 3 Aldi cakes on top of each other last night to create an impromptu birthday cake, it was a real team effort, a packet of Batman Oreo’s were sacrificed for necessary decoration, a kebab skewer & 2 sparklers were found at the back of a draw for crucial stability & pizazz, it really was a beautiful thing…

This is cake is quite the opposite…both however bought so much joy.

And that is the beauty of CAKE.
