The events industry is one of those sectors hardest hit and still suffering - no shows, tours, concerts, festivals.... ALL the people involved from top to bottom have pretty much not turned a flightcase wheel since the first week of lockdown - and there is no end in sight...
We've been involved in events and shows, behind the scenes, for many years and been fortunate to work on some fantastic artists, with great crew and clients in a wide range of venues all over the UK and overseas...
Today there are a series of events happening up and down the country to highlight the lack of support for this sector - there are large companies and many individuals who have already gone under, who are hanging on and who are struggling - financially and mentally.
The campaign will once again be lighting hundreds of iconic building in red across the country and for those in London there will be a river based demonstration to symbolise the need for the industry to be 'thrown a life-line'
Entertainment is all around us - and we've needed more of it than ever during these times - ironic therefore, that the very industry that produces it has been totally unable to function - and will continue to stay dark and silent.
It doesn't produce the tax or duty that the Fuel, Aviation industry and Pubs do - it doesn't have the same lobbying power (which is why those industries are opening up) It is, however, a HUGE revenue generator and vital to the economy and tourism of the country - it touches everyone at some time - from a pop up cinema to an arena tours - from festivals to local theatre...
Riggers.. Sound technicians.. Lighting Designers & Operators... Musicians... Caterers.. Cleaners... Drivers.. Audio Visual Technicians...Kit Hire companies... Designers... General Freelance crew... Pyrotechnicians... the list is endless but sadly those able to carry on is getting smaller each day...
So please check out any of the events or links you might see to help support the dynamic, creative, diverse and important events industry - before it's too late.
