We can’t wait for more magic like this stunning event at the Lanesborough. Stepping into The Wine Cellar was like entering a secret garden, where flowers flowed like rivers along the walls and filled the room with a sense of serenity and magic. The ceiling felt alive, draped with florals that transformed the space into a lush, intimate cocoon. Candlelight brushed the room with a warm row, every detail whispering of art, nature, and the intoxicating allure of the seasons.

From Farm to masterpiece 2024

It's the first time I showed exactly how we design using sustainable mechanics and how I have grown my business to where it is today. We taught so many elements in three days and how important it was to look to the future of our industry rather than the past. It's always a little bit daunting when you properly open up for the first time but I can't explain how special those three days were for my team and I. It was even more special to hold the course to show how incredible our soils are and what they have to offer.

We can't believe the reaction we have had from all of you and we can't wait to show you what we have in store for you in the next couple of months... watch this space.

For those of you who haven't already signed up to our mailing list please do! You will to be the first to know about our future course as spaces like this one will be limited. 🇿🇦 we are coming for you ...

A family portrait at my sister-in-law's wedding with Alfie already showing a flare for the fluers!

We are never happier than when we are designing and redrafting spaces with flowers for clients. Usually we spend a few days at the venues, getting up early to and working through the night to craft our magic ready for the guests to enjoy. We love the transformational capacity that floral designs holds.

And every now and again, for very special occasions, we are able to enjoy our designs from the other perspective, as a guest and as family! Which is always such a treat!

Congratulations Kiki and Tom 😘😘

Working with locally grown, seasonal stems is something that will revolutionise your instillations.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This September, we’re thrilled to open the gates of Floriston Flower Farm for the first time, inviting a select few ambitious florists behind the Lucy Vail Floristry curtain.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Over three intensive days, you’ll gain exclusive access to the LVF and Floriston team. We’ll share everything we know about sustainable mechanics and collaborating with local growers to create naturalistic, luxury arrangements. But don’t take our word for it, here’s Amanda’s take on the course form a local grower perspective:

“Actually, so often now, florists, especially Lucy, are saying, well, look, these flowers last longer than the imported flowers. If you come to us, we can teach you, show you, and explain to you about cutting and conditioning. The wonderful thing you’re going to learn with Lucy is that imported flowers stand up straight, whereas locally sourced flowers curve, wave, and have character.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each day is packed with educational workshops and practical sessions covering all the essentials: partnering with farms, counts and budgeting, and educating clients on working seasonally. You’ll learn innovative techniques for crafting high-impact, sustainable designs, from lush tablescapes to large-scale installations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This experience is tailored for florists eager to explore the future of floristry. We’ve kept the group size small to ensure you get the most out of the workshop, including one-on-one time with the team. A fundamental knowledge of floristry is required.

Urns are such an indulgent way to bring height and drama to any setting. We’ve never been sticklers for symmetry, prefering to mimic the abundant, natural look. Little pockets of vibrant colour in a full and wild setting to really bring the wow factor.

Florals to frame your fairytale!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When thinking about which flowers to choose for your wedding day, we always suggest going as local as possible, and using seasonal stems for the most magical impact. We adore creating worlds for our clients and thats just what we did for this stunning wedding in New Market!

We specialise in creating world changing immersive floral instillations. Our designs should be a continuation of the (often extraordinary) surroundings, immersing guests in the setting whilst redefining the use of space entirely through innovative design.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We look beyond the tables, drawing inspiration from the architecture and existing scenery to create a truly immersive botanic wonderland. Every detail is considered.

One of my absolute favourite things to make is an archway. Not only to build something with such scale but it's also the emotion that is behind it. It's the first time you enter the church unmarried and come out with someone you are going to spend the rest of your life with. This is a moment to go big or go home and celebrate everything that is to come!

For me an arch should be full of colour, scent and so many wonky locally sourced stem.

This archway was for my sister-in-law and one I will never forget.

This archway was full of flowers and 200 roses - the scent was extraordinary!

Last week was such a great week in the Lucy Vail studio designing for multiple events across the country. We are also in the midst of designing for some bucket list locations and events and as a team are feeling so fired up!

Our core team is composed of artists and designers with backgrounds in exhibition, fashion, theatre and film set design. We approach each project as art historians and stylists, with a goal to always creating a world that sits well within its environment. We look beyond the tables, drawing inspiration from the architecture and existing scenery to create a truly immersive botanic wonderland. Every detail is considered.

Iconic designs for an iconic location! Bringing elements of height to your event design is a fantastic way to create an all-encompassing experience for your guests. Yesterday at , we had the pleasure of creating multiple gravity-defying installations for our client.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our core team is composed of artists and designers with backgrounds in exhibition, fashion, theatre and film set design, and for this event our collective experience really came into its own! The install was high energy and required lots of careful organising (and dodging abilities) as there wasn’t a lot of time to set up, but working alongside the fabulous teams at , , and for the evening was a dream.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As always, all our designs are made with chicken-wire, water, and great structural bones (sustainable mechanics!). No oasis is ever used on our projects, and our Saatchi Gallery creations are no different.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our client wanted to create an immersive environment full of colour and seasonal blooms for their guests and being mindful of the beautiful work showcased through the RHS Botanical Art & Photography Show 2024 currently on display we wanted to bring our A-game. Which installation is your favourite?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1 - The flower wall and entrance
2 - The paper flower towers and meadows that welcome you through the building
3 - The tree and bar wrapped in peonies, roses, sweat-peas and more!
4 - The wild meadows and paper flower trees lining the walkway between galleries

This week has been a whirlwind of great design and events, but today also just so happens to be my wedding anniversary! Two years and a baby later, and I’m still completely in love with what the team created.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At the time our clients were very nervous to use colour in their weddings designs so with my own flowers I wanted to prove that there is nothing better than being surrounded by a rainbow of colour on your special day. In the years since I’m pleased to say that there has been a big increase in demand for colour and fingers crossed more couples will be encouraged to weave it into their designs in those to come.

Originally I intended to keep things understated, but having decided to get married at Floriston (our family’s flower farm in Suffolk) with so many incredible blooms on the doorstep, it just seemed too fabulous an opportunity to miss. By opening up the colour palette so many more incredible blooms were made available through the amazing British growers that supplied our wedding. I have always loved to bring bold, contrasting colours into our designs when possible so for my wedding it felt only fitting to bring in washes of blue, pink, orange and purple through each installation.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Looking back, I am filled with so many happy memories from the day with my husband, family and friends, but also an enormous amount of pride and gratitude for my incredible team who worked so hard to pull it all together. With large installations throughout every space and a heatwave to boot, they pulled out all the stops to make sure that I had the wedding of my dreams. So when I look at these happy photos I see them everywhere too, which makes the memories all the more special.

RHS Chelsea flower shows is one of the most prestigious events of the year. As the show comes to a close we look back at some of our favourite moments of the show.

In 2022 we did the royal gates with installs starting from 10pm and finishing at 6am. It was a 6M structure using thousands of British plants and hand made 3M urns as well as woven crowns. It was the first and last time we saw the queen pass through our gates celebrating the jubilee.

Then came last year's installation - THE MAIN ENTRANCE- where we created a pink wave of British cut stems that championed flower farmers all over the uk.

My favourite moment of the show is watering our plants at 6am every morning, the show is deserted and the only noise you can hear is the hard working gardeners watering their gardens. As well as the delicious bacon buttys and a good debrief with Mimo about what we had achieved and the excitement that is to come.

For those of you who are thinking about applying to do something at Chelsea I would say go for it - the hustle and bustle and the talent that is within the show is something incredibly magical. I can't imagine not being apart of RHS Chelsea so here is to many more years 💥

Which entrance gate do you prefer?

Massive congrats to all the teams and amazing talent for everything that’s been created this weekend. Now for another crazy creative week ...

Just a few highlights from a brilliant weekend building for Polar Black, Duke of York square and Cadogan. It was all go, go, go! Chelsea Flower Show and Chelsea in Bloom are calendar dates we look forward to every year, and for good reason. It’s a time when our whole industry is abuzz with ideas. There’s a real sense of energy, camaraderie, and playfulness with design (and a hint of summer) that is impossible to ignore.

Have you been to Duke of York Square yet to check out our giant, Dutch Masters-inspired sculpture? We’ll be swinging by and watering the plants all week, so you might bump into me or the team!

For those asking, the dresses (which garnered many compliments over the weekend) are from . Kindly in this instance, but a firm staple in our team’s wardrobe (they have pockets and they wash well—perfect floral design attire!).

Thanks to for the gorgeous photos, and to the team for their high energy and floral skills!

I can't tell you how excited we are for this season. No two events will be the same and the designs for the year ahead are next level. For us the relationships with our suppliers, planners and private clients is such a special one and makes our job and day to day even better.

We are constantly looking to push the boundaries of design through colour, texture and build props to transport our clients into a different world.

We can't wait to take you on our journey with us. 🌸

Delve into the enchanting world of Alfred Sisley amidst the iconic setting of Sketch London, Mayfair’s renowned three-storey dining emporium. As you explore the immersive floral installation inspired by Sisley’s ‘The Small Meadows in Spring’, large panels with hand pressed stems transport you through time and space, surrounded by the vibrant hues of rolling hills and preserved foliage. Just as Sketch itself evolved from humble beginnings to become a celebrated hotspot, our installation celebrates Sisley’s overlooked brilliance, echoing the journey from obscurity to acclaim.

We love it, what do you think?

A magical wonderland for Ami’s wedding, abundant with late spring blooms.

Florals at an event are there to make a moment, we come in in the early hours of the morning and transform a space completely, to make your dreams come true. For Ami, we created an enormous arch bursting with ranunculus, anemones, frittilaria and other delicious pinks and whites. In the stunning marquee, w created columns of blossom branches and greenery that rose up the marquee poles, instantly creating an intimate setting with impact!

We wanted to bring this full feeling down too, so the guests felt immersive in the florals and the moment. On the tables we created gorgeous, tall trumpet vases bursting with blossom and tulips, surrounded by beautiful low ceramic vases of other seasonal flowers such as narcissi, ranunculus and anemones. Tapered candles in glass cylinders and soft glowing tealights will be dotted amongst the florals. All culminating around the central large blossom tree constructed in the bar. Here you can really see the magic of lighting; flowery by day but at night it would light up into a twinkling wishing tree!

So many ways to make your moment, all working together to create the perfect event just for you. All our designs are bespoke to the space and client and it’s so perfect seeing the shared vision come to reality!

An early start to construct this gorgeous and carefully designed Mandap with its rich visuals of art and design. With the colour scheme of deep eggplant, mahogany, muted coppers and golds we created an asymetrical display, with local florals elelgantly swirling around the Mandap structure.

Personally the stars of the shows for me for this arrangement were the lilac bearded iris and double stemmed tulips all sourced from local flower farmers. We were also able to use local foliage so that our installation went with its surrounding rather than against it.

So many exciting projects this year and what a way to start the season!

Everything was placed in chicken wire, tubes and our own bespoke structures. No oasis or single used plastic.

You'll sometimes hear me talking about how floristry isn't always as glamorous as it sounds. Well, sometimes, it is.

Here are some snaps from the undeniably glamorous dinner table for our wedding this weekend in Como.

Drawing from the colours found in an Italian sunset, a completely delightful runner of flowers runs across the length of the length of the table. We are totally in love with it. Each flower was carefully placed, dancing tulips situated above blooming ranunculus to create an elegant and modern centrepiece. Punctuated with radicchio for a bit of personality and quirk.

A moment of silence for the location please!

Thanks to .shamis for the pictures and for their planning.

This juicy dinner table is an example of how sourcing locally can add unexpected excitement to your table.

Drawing colours from the dutch masters parrot tulips, hot pink sweet peas, burgundy irises, all interspersed with some caramels, walnuts, and tumbling strawberries, plums and pearls. Pure, luxurious delight.

Sculptural bud vases dance down the table creating an inviting atmosphere for a carefully considered tablescape that creates an artwork in itself.

For those considering a marquee for their wedding or event and feeling a bit overwhelmed, worry not!As florists, we may be a little biased on this topic as we adore a splendid marquee. They provide the framework from which we can craft our masterpieces and serve as the vessel for magical moments. Whether you, like us, are enchanted by the idea of a botanical wonderland, or if a beautifully illuminated dance floor with elegant and discreet rigging is more to your taste (or perhaps both!), marquees are essential to the success of any event.

Today, we've curated a list of reliable companies with whom we've collaborated on various occasions, including our own personal events. These teams are renowned for their cooperation and helpfulness, and we're confident you'll be pleased with the results.
