Wow, as we draw to a close on 2024, I’ve been reflecting on our events, weddings, workshops, and installations this year. It really has been an exciting year, filled with so many special moments. We have laughed, cried, and created the extraordinary, working all over Europe with the most amazing people.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us throughout the year. You are the ones who keep us inspired and always allow us to create something that has never been seen before.

My team has grown from three to six, and I’ve had my first year as a mum. I couldn’t be prouder and more excited for 2025! But for now, here’s to 2024 — we will never forget you!

Two weddings in one day—a whirlwind of the very best kind! With a crisp winter chill outside, this design brought a fresh embrace to warm and timeless surroundings, creating a truly elegant backdrop for the couple’s special day.⁠

A garden-inspired design graced the space behind the couple’s seating, adding height and softness to the grandeur to the room. On either side, meadow gardens flourished, framing the couple beautifully during the ceremony and who doesn’t love a classic mantelpiece?! Chic and elegant.⁠

At LVF, wreaths hold a special place in our hearts - after all, they were where Lucy’s floristry journey began! But did you know that the Christmas wreath’s story is one of resourcefulness and timeless beauty?⁠ In the 16th century, as families pruned evergreens for their Christmas trees, they didn’t discard the trimmings. Instead, they wove them into circular wreaths - symbols of eternity, resilience, and hope. The evergreen, thriving even in the harshest winters, became a beacon of life and faith during the darkest days of the year.⁠

From day to night! A classically Christmassy design brought to life: three oversized crackers nestled within a majestic pine archway, adorned with rich red and gold foliage, crimson hydrangeas, and sparkling ornaments. Vibrant anime and vintage toy chandeliers burst like childhood dream come true from the crackers, creating a festive display of grandeur and whimsy.

It was an utter joy to bring an intimate and exquisitely refined wedding vision to life across two of London’s most storied and iconic venues, Marylebone Town Hall and Claridge’s. With a vision balancing modern structure and timeless grace, we wove a classic palette of lush greens and soft whites throughout the iconic interiors of each venue.⁠

Single stems of calla lilies and roses at varied heights among the amaranthus, gave the setting a delicate, organic rhythm whilst maintaining a minimalist, modern aesthetic. Every detail was chosen to honour the classic elegance of these iconic spaces, blending fresh natural ingredients with understated sophistication.⁠ Biggest congratulations to the happy couple on their magical day!

We can’t wait for more magic like this stunning event at the Lanesborough. ⁠Stepping into The Wine Cellar was like entering a secret garden, where flowers flowed like rivers along the walls and filled the room with a sense of serenity and magic. The ceiling felt alive, draped with florals that transformed the space into a lush, intimate cocoon. Candlelight brushed the room with a warm row, every detail whispering of art, nature, and the intoxicating allure of the seasons.

From Farm to masterpiece 2024

It's the first time I showed exactly how we design using sustainable mechanics and how I have grown my business to where it is today. We taught so many elements in three days and how important it was to look to the future of our industry rather than the past. It's always a little bit daunting when you properly open up for the first time but I can't explain how special those three days were for my team and I. It was even more special to hold the course to show how incredible our soils are and what they have to offer.

We can't believe the reaction we have had from all of you and we can't wait to show you what we have in store for you in the next couple of months... watch this space.

A family portrait at my sister-in-law's wedding with Alfie already showing a flare for the fluers!

We are never happier than when we are designing and redrafting spaces with flowers for clients. Usually we spend a few days at the venues, getting up early to and working through the night to craft our magic ready for the guests to enjoy. We love the transformational capacity that floral designs holds.

And every now and again, for very special occasions, we are able to enjoy our designs from the other perspective, as a guest and as family! Which is always such a treat!

This September, we’re thrilled to open the gates of Floriston Flower Farm for the first time, inviting a select few ambitious florists behind the Lucy Vail Floristry curtain.

Over three intensive days, you’ll gain exclusive access to the LVF and Floriston team. We’ll share everything we know about sustainable mechanics and collaborating with local growers to create naturalistic, luxury arrangements. But don’t take our word for it, here’s Amanda’s take on the course form a local grower perspective:   “Actually, so often now, florists, especially Lucy, are saying, well, look, these flowers last longer than the imported flowers. If you come to us, we can teach you, show you, and explain to you about cutting and conditioning. The wonderful thing you’re going to learn with Lucy is that imported flowers stand up straight, whereas locally sourced flowers curve, wave, and have character.”

Urns are such an indulgent way to bring height and drama to any setting. We’ve never been sticklers for symmetry, prefering to mimic the abundant, natural look. Little pockets of vibrant colour in a full and wild setting to really bring the wow factor.

When thinking about which flowers to choose for your wedding day, we always suggest going as local as possible, and using seasonal stems for the most magical impact. We adore creating worlds for our clients and thats just what we did for this stunning wedding in New Market!  
We specialise in creating world changing immersive floral instillations. Our designs should be a continuation of the (often extraordinary) surroundings, immersing guests in the setting whilst redefining the use of space entirely through innovative design.

One of my absolute favourite things to make is an archway. Not only to build something with such scale but it's also the emotion that is behind it. It's the first time you enter the church unmarried and come out with someone you are going to spend the rest of your life with. This is a moment to go big or go home and celebrate everything that is to come!

For me an arch should be full of colour, scent and so many wonky locally sourced stem.

This archway was for my sister-in-law and one I will never forget.

Last week was such a great week in the Lucy Vail studio designing for multiple events across the country. We are also in the midst of designing for some bucket list locations and events and as a team are feeling so fired up!  
Our core team is composed of artists and designers with backgrounds in exhibition, fashion, theatre and film set design. We approach each project as art historians and stylists, with a goal to always creating a world that sits well within its environment.
