Sixteen22..Our Wee Country Pub With Big Character.

The celebrations often kick off here at the drink reception. It opens to the outside area over looking the lake/grounds and luckily is a sun trap 😎

The live music 🎶 brings a great atmosphere to this setting as friends and family come together an the craic starts.

Then after a night's fun in the Garden Pavillion guest return to Sixteen22 to see out the celebrations 🍾

The House is 400 years old and holds some amazing storys from the family who owned it however Sixteen22 is quickly catching up with its fair amount of late night 🌙 storys 😉

Once It Looks Pretty, What Should You Look for In A Venue before visiting?

1. Location Location Location

It doesnt matter how pretty the venue is if its a 3 hr drive and you don't want your guests to travel that far.

2. Capacity - How may guests can they cater for ?

If you aiming for a large wedding off 250 guests and the venue caters for 150 guests it's a No No.

3. Plan B - What if it rains?

Should you be getting married outside at the venue is there a nice indoor option?

4. Accmodation- Is there enough at the venue ?

Some people are happy with immediate family staying and others want friends and wider family also. Decide wants important to you.

Two reason; First is obvious, you want to make the right food choice for your friends and family. The only way to do that is taste it and expierence it. On top of that there is life...like work, children, sport, maybe even moving/building house, etc.. Our Most Popular Main Dish The Daube of Beef is easily our couples most chosen main course and we know why. Slow cooked fall apart Beef with a rich red wine gravey, sitting on a potatoe gratin, topped with roasted Onion, walled garden green's, Carrot 🥕 Puree and Yorkshire Pudding Our team of chefs cook everything from strach and you can tell by our guests feedback.

What Time Is Best For A Ceremony? Couples often ask with time to have their ceremony with ranges from 12pm to 4pm on their mind.. 12pm if often too early with guests arriving at the venue after 11am...also you may end up having to talk with that Aunt that who never remembers your name 🤣 4pm is too late as you will be rushed to get you photos before dinner takes place. 2pm is the sweet spot to spend time with your guests and ample time for your pics, the only time we suggest to go earlier is the winter months when the sun sets earlier Happy Monday

Lets Talk Tables Plans Often a tricky job before your wedding figuring out who is going to sit at the same table. Who will be a good fit and who won't kill each other 🤣 fine balance after a few drinks. Do we have the family beside the top table or friends ? How many people on a table ? There is no wrongs answer's....its your celebrations and if you want 7 on a table or 11 thats perfect... If you want a top table of 4 or 14...we got you👌 The only thingbyou have to do is design a table plan with your guest names and table name. A hotel steeped in 400 years of history

Beech Hill Country House has a dramatic history stretching back over 400 years and has been in the ownership of families which have shaped the City and County.

At the time of the Plantation of Ulster in the early 1600s, Ballyshasky, ‘the townland of the sedge grass’, was in the procession of Captain Manus O’Cahan, a member of the princely clan which had dominated the northern part of the county.

A wealthy family called Skipton from Huntingdonshire in England acquired Ballyshasky in 1617 and built Skipton Hall. The original house was subsequently burnt to the ground during the 1641 Rebellion and its successor was reduced to ashes again at the time of the Siege of Derry in 1689. The present house was built by a descendant, Captain Thomas Skipton, in 1729. It was given the name Beech Hill due to the many beech trees surrounding it.

The house remained in the Skipton family until 1872 when it was sold to Edward Nicholson of Newbuildings. The coats of arms of both the Nicholsons and the Skiptons can be found throughout the house and its grounds.
