Scarfest – The history
Scarfest was developed from an idea that the Festival Director had one morning. Having always wanted to throw a big party in a field featuring live music, the Festival Director approached an equally crazy associate, who agreed that this was a fine plan and a committee was born. Six months later and the plans are shaping up nicely for what promises to be the greatest music
festival that Longridge has ever seen (please don’t mention that it is the ONLY one in Longridge…). The music is a mixture of pop, rock, indie and heavy metal. The headline act is the funk band from Manchester, Grand Old Juke. Our other bands hail from Wigan, Bolton, Preston, London and we even have one band from Marseille in France. We also want to support our local talent and we have two bands from right here in Longridge – One Minute and The Rain. We have booked the beer tent, which is offering a full bar service, lots of food stands and interesting stalls where you can buy all your festival necessities. We haven’t forgotten our youngest festival goers either. We are offering a range of fun activities for children in our “Marquee of Mystery”. This is an event suitable for the whole family. Tickets are a reasonable price for such a fantastic event on your doorstep (that’s if your doorstep is in Longridge – ha ha!). All profits raised are for local charities and all the committee members have given up their time for free. They have attended a vast number of meetings, exchanged at least a million phone calls, 2 million emails, 3 million texts, a lot of laughs and a few bouts of hysterical crying. Now the festival is almost upon us, the Committee is exactly that – committed – to putting on a great show and ensuring that we all have a lovely time listening to fantastic talent and enjoying ourselves… a party in a field!
