On This Day! Frederick ‘Harry’ Le Marchant Lovell. Royal Horse Artillery died of wounds 11 November 1916 aged 37

Born in Guernsey the son of a regular soldier, Harry Married Ev Williams a Loughborough cycle makers daughter. Harry was a territorial soldier and sailed for Egypt and onwards to Gallipoli in March 1915 arriving there in December 1915. It is not clear when Harry was wounded but died of his wounds and shares a grave with an Australian who died on the same day. He is commemorated on the Carillon and on the memorial at Barrow upon Soar.
