Generator Tile Salvaging
Did you hear the banging in the Generator Hall this weekend? A team of volunteers were at work lifting as many of the beloved black and white tiles as they could, to keep and to display on a wall. They saved 300 (more-or-less-complete) heritage tiles.

🚨CROWDFUNDER APPEAL We have until March 31 to Double the Money for #Loughborough Arts & Culture. We're restoring the massive Generator Hall, creating a large-capacity, multi-purpose community arts venue.
WHY SHOULD YOU SUPPORT IT?
Once open, the Generator Hall will create a large-capacity venue, and host events at a scale currently not possible in town, catering for all creative arts activities and for all Loughborough communities. This will bring in new performers to the town.
You’ll be able see (or take part in): performances (comedy, dance and drama), live music, exhibitions, art festivals, seminars, lectures, talks, poetry, spoken word & installations.
You'll also be able to take part in creative meet-ups, art projects, workshops (including free ones) & heritage events.
The young girl in the video, Agnes, really nails why #Lboro needs this space: “it just feels that it has the potential to all of this stuff”. Agnes is Kev Ryan’s granddaughter. Kev was a major inspiration behind the project, who sadly died in 2020.

WHY THE URGENCY?
The Architectural Heritage Fund will let us ‘double our money’ up to the end of March, with every £1 donated becoming £2, up to £25k. So this Crowdfunder could generate £50k for the project and the town, but we only have a few days, and we need everyone that would gladly help, to know the appeal is happening.
We've raised £2m so far, having secured funding & support from
Town Deal, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Architectural Heritage Fund, Arts Council England, Charnwood Borough Council, Loughborough University and the LLEP. Work has begun, removing asbestos & lead paint. So we're really close.
But there's still a funding gap and right now we have this golden opportunity to 'double the money' for the town.
