Louth Golf Club held it's annual Club Championship on Sunday 22 June.

Players were faced with considerably windy conditions along with a very dry course which had been superbly prepared and presented by Head greenkeeper Sam along with his team.

The winner of the Gibson Trophy (handicap) was Calum Atkinson. Congratulations go to James Turner who won, and retained, the Championship Trophy for the best Gross score. James is pictured receiving the trophy from Club Captain Tony Griffiths.

This last weekend was a busy and successful one for our junior section.

On Friday night, we welcomed 13 youngsters aged 5 to 13 to the club to participate in the second BOOM IT GOLF. The weather was fantastic, and all enjoyed the evening sunshine while trying their hand at putting games, pitching games, and BOOMING it down the second fairway. The evening was rounded off by enjoying pizza and chips in the clubhouse afterwards (thank you to Drakes for organising that). The session resulted in five youngsters joining our junior ranks through group coaching or membership, and we hope to see the others back at the club in the future.

The next session is on 18th July at 5.30 pm, so book now not to miss out. There are limited spaces available (but we are taking bookings for the 15th August or 19th September sessions), bookings can be made by emailing [email protected]



On Saturday afternoon, our junior development team made the short journey across town to take on the Kenwick Golf Club junior development team in hot conditions. We ran out winners, so well done to Matt, Alex, Izzy, Archie, Isaac, Alfie, Scarlett and Freya. A big shout-out to Isaac and Alfie (both only 10 years old) for making their development team debuts. All those who played or are part of the junior development squad have progressed through our junior coaching process, starting with Golf Sixes.

To round the weekend off, yesterday, our Golf Sixes squad spent an afternoon at Seacroft Golf Club for the latest Golf Sixes fixture. It was a testing and challenging afternoon on a lovely but tricky course in tricky conditions, especially when someone flicked the gale-force wind switch on for the last couple of holes. It was great to see so many juniors from various clubs taking part and maintaining smiles and positivity despite the difficulties of the course and conditions.

The team made it back-to-back victories by taking first place with 113 points, a fantastic performance and scoring in the conditions. Well done to Mylo, Alfie, Isaac, Saxon and Layla. The squad are looking forward to their next fixture in a fortnight back at Seacroft.

111 golfers competed in the 95th meeting of Lincs County Captains and Past Captains Golf Society at Sleaford today.

LouthGC was represented by 7 past captains who enjoyed a brilliant day with past captain Matt Leeming taking top spot and Mike Tompkinson taking 2nd.

Friday evening saw BOOM IT GOLF debuting at Louth Golf Club.

15 youngsters, ranging from age 5 to 16, came along to the club and tried their hand at putting games, pitching games and BOOMING it down the second fairway.

Despite the chilly weather, a great time was had by all and the kids enjoyed pizza and chips in the clubhouse afterwards. We hope to see them back at the club in the future.

Saturday saw some fine weather and golf for the second junior section competition of the year.

12 juniors turned out for the Leverton Junior Trophy, a stableford format played over 9 holes.

There was some fantastic scoring by all, with Alfie taking home the trophy with 24 points, followed by Noah with 23 points and Alex with 22 points.

Thank you to Sam and his team for the great condition the course is in and to Drakes for the great facilities afterwards.

Finally a big thank you to the parents for their support and we look forward to seeing you all at our forthcoming events, starting with Junior Golfer/Non Golfer this Friday (02/05 5pm)."
