A little late in the day, but as we pack up our last show of the season, I just want to wish this wonderful man a very ‘Happy Birthday!’ He’s been incredible this year, what with having to run the business on his own whilst looking after me when I was poorly. Certainly been ‘for better for worse,’ and ‘in sickness and in health.’ Just could do with the ‘for richer’ part now 😂Love you Mr J, now let’s load this van and go home x

What an absolute joy these ladies were. Thank you to Jo and Jess Edun The Flygerians for coming all the way to little old Ludlow.
You don’t often get to see the lovely Claire as she’s always behind the camera, so here she is, my right hand woman at Ludlow Food Festival Thanks also to Chefslocker for the use of the grill, much appreciated. Katie x

We did it! But not without the help of these fabulous people. Ludlow Food Festival is probably the biggest Food Festival we work with, as it’s us who set up the Chefs and Speakers for three of the stages, so it can be a little nerve wracking as we head towards the event, with everything crossed that no one has to pull out. It’s been extra difficult this time with me being poorly, but the team in green have been amazing. They’ve rallied round Glyn who has had to carry on with the business on his own, whilst caring for me, and they’ve not let me lift a finger. I wanted to be fit enough for Ludlow, especially with arranging the Demos and Talks, and I managed 2 of the 3 days. Was lovely to see so many friends from this incredible food and drink bubble we reside in, and yes a little overwhelming at times, but feeling so very grateful for everything we have, and everyone we know. Thank you to the Chefs and Speakers who gave their time, the volunteers as always, especially our Karen, and to the audiences who came and sat a while. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we all did, Katie & Glyn x

When Vito Coppola came to Ludlow Food Festival and joined the ‘team in green.’ What an absolute joy to have Vito join us for what was his first ever cookery demonstration. Such a lovely man, warm and genuine, and just as he is on the screen. He was generous with his time, and gave the biggest hugs, and yes, he can cook - his traditional tomato sauce was amazing. Thank you lovely man, we’ll be watching both Celebrity Masterchef and BBC Strictly Come Dancing and here’s to our paths crossing again, Katie x

Slight change to Friday’s line up of Speakers on the Castle Garden Stage, kindly supported by Netherton Foundry at Ludlow Food Festival Sadly Shaun Hill is unable to join us, but sends his apologies.
In his place, at short notice, a huge thank you to Sam Walker. Sam will be chatting about ‘Game in the UK.’ He is from Herefordshire, and works as Regional Officer for the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.

This picture popped up this morning as a memory 😞 It was taken 10 years ago by another of our ‘team in green’ and friend, Fiona.
Lesley was Ludlow, and it’s never been quite the same without her. Today would have been the day she’d arrive with all the shopping and prep she would have done for the Chefs. Her bags for life would be filled with equipment, tea cloths, ingredients and the all important tea pot and cafetière! Then when we’d worked for a few hours creating the kitchen at the back of the stages, she’d pop to Ludlow market, and bring back a pork pie for us all to enjoy. We will forever miss our dear friend Lesley, taken from us way too soon. If we get the chance today, we’ll see if we can find a pork pie ❤️ x

We love this picture of the superstar that is Nerys Howell - Food Specialist chatting to Brian, the Farm Manager at St Fagans Museum at their recent Food Festival. Nerys has been a huge supporter of Wots Cooking over the years, and we absolutely love working with her. By the way, if you happen to see Nerys at an event, and she’s with her trolley - he’s called Gordon 😉

Our Story

Glyn worked for the BBC for over 30 years and Katie 15 years, both as Presenters/Producers, it’s where they met - Glyn training Katie on the desk!

Glyn was Freelance whilst with the BBC, and ran his own Company ‘Videotrix,’ offering Broadcast and Event Technical Support and also Media Training amongst others.

Katie’s career began in Dairy Farming, a time when very few women were in the industry. With appearances on Radio 4 ‘Today Programme’ and ‘Womans Hour,’ it was a certain Bill Turnbull who suggested she moved into Radio, so she did.

Wots Cooking was formed in 2012, after leaving the BBC. They had always Compered at events and we were still asked to do so - also to provide Camera work and sound, so the one thing missing was their own Demonstration Kitchen, so Glyn built one with the advice from a few Chef pals on design.
