Thank you to everyone who bought tubers this week & to everyone else waiting to see what stocks are left after the initial sale 🥰

So lovely to see soo many supporting local, and keeping delivery miles extremely low 🥰

Now it’s time to pot them up, keep them warm, and see them start to grow. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t notice anything for a couple of weeks, dahlias start growing when the temperatures reach 15oc.

Also don’t forget, you don’t want to be over watering your dahlias at this stage. Enjoy 🥰

It’s about time to wake up my tubers, and get them potted up in the greenhouse.

Over wintering them in a mix of shavings and our own sheep’s wool seems to have kept them very happy.

I may have some tubers for sale, and will know more next week. Keep your eyes peeled on this page, and I’ll keep you posted with which varieties are available. 🥰

Compost has been ordered, the start of the 2024 dahlia season is about to begin 🥰.

I’ve also ordered soil improver for Clay Soil, as dahlias HATE soil which isn’t free draining, and I HATE clay stuck between my tubers when storing them for winter. Let’s hope this helps keep us both happy and we see an improvement 🤞.

Wakey wakey little dahlias! I see you beginning to rise and shine 👀

Swipe to see the first sign of our 2024 season ——>

I am soo excited to see the first signs of life in the tubers after a winter in storage. Also very happy to see they seem to have survived the trials and tribulations of being stored 🙌 phew. What with trying to keep them above freezing, but not too warm & not wet to avoid rotting, but not too dry so they dry out 🙈.

Time to give them a thorough once over and check they all healthy and happy ready for our 2nd season.

Who wants to see more behind the scenes as wake these dahlias up ready for the flower patch?

Thanking my earlier self for digging up and storing the Dahlia tubers over winter. 🙏💪

Not only do Dahlia’s hate the cold, but they also rot if they sit in soil which is too wet. Currently the flower patch is flooded and freezing! A dahlia tubers nightmare combination!

So I’m posting this as a reminder to my future self for next autumn, to show that although digging up and storing each tuber is a chore, they’re much better off snuggled up safely in their winter storage.
